Derbyshire To Go Greek?!?!

Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire is understood to be set for a surprise loan move to Greece.

Skysports.com is reporting that the 22-year-old is being courted by Olympiakos, who have been impressed by Derbyshire's outings for the England Under-21 International side over the past year. Derbyshire is currently behind Roque Santa Cruz (however, he seems set to leave shortly with the Russian arriving to replace him), Benni McCarthy and Jason Roberts in Sam Allardyce's pecking order and has already been linked with a move to several Championship clubs.

It is also understood that Derbs is himself keen on making the move so he can play some regular first-team football.

this will be a great move, but have we got enough back up to let him leave up top.... benni, J-Rob, then Santa(atm)... unless villanueva is going to be given the platform to step up under big sam!! I have confidence in everything at the moment tho, its Gooooood!

Only a loan move which makes me happy - I'm still convinced he's going to be rovers first name on the team sheet in a couple of years. I don't see the Russian coming in though, which leaves me a bit worried about cover up top.

i have always thought that matt has been unluckly in the lack of starts for us. I don't think he has every started more that 4 games in a row for us up front. This is why it would be good for him to move somewhere he can get consecutive games but we should not let him leave unless we have good enough back up. Are roque's younger brother and the new guy blackman good enought to be a four choice striker at this crucial stage to the season?
