Rovers Make Bid For Pogrebnyak

Blackburn are set to reach and agreement for Russia international striker Pavel Pogrebnyak who easily has the best name ever.

Rovers are actively searching for a replacement for Roque Santa Cruz who is trying to fashion a move to Man City.

Zenit St Petersberg president Maxim Mitrofanov, speaking to Sky Sports said: 'Yesterday, Blackburn officials contacted us and made an offer for Pogrebnyak.

'Their offer is almost the same as our valuation.

'If they send us the offer officially in time, we will contact Pogrebnyak and will persuade him to go to England.'

Pogrebnyak is the man who recently scored in the World Club Cup final against Manchester United and has 5 goals in 12 games for Russia.

If he is in place soon I am sure that will be the end of the Rovers road for Mr.Cruz.

That is if a deal can be reached.

Looks like this one is a goer if early reports are to be believed.

Well i think the Russians are suited well to our physical league and i think this could be another Big Sam find like he had at Bolton. A good replacement as it looks RSC is going if we put this one through.

looks like he doesnt want to come according to SETANTA SPORTS. they say he has rejected the chance to join the mighty Rovers!

Sounds unlikely to me. I don't think Santa's going anywhere. Derbyshire out on loan too. How many strikers do we have left... (well 3!). Cutting things a bit fine imo.
