Sam Admits Defeat In Gudjohnsen Chase

Sam Admits Defeat In Gudjohnsen Chase

Blackburn Rovers have been linked with a move for Eidur Gudjohnsen this week, but Sam Allardyce (as much as he would want him at Ewood Park) has admitted defeat in his attempts to sign him.

Allardyce knows Gudjohnsen from their brief time together at Bolton Wanderers, and although the Icelandic striker has struggled to hold down a regular first team place with Barcelona Big Sam isn't expecting Gudjohnsen to give up the Spanish lifestyle for a while, as he concedes defeat in his efforts to bring him to Ewood.

Allardyce told Setanta Sports: "It would be lovely to have Eidur playing with me at Blackburn.

"Whilst he might not be a regular at Barcelona at the moment, it is somewhere he still enjoys living and playing.

"So from that point of view, as much as I'd like it, it would be very difficult for him to come here.
