Pair Join Rovers On Trial

Blackburn Rovers have brought in Jean Calve and Babacar Gueye on trial, ahead of would could be potential signings later in the January transfer window?

Calve is currently contracted to Nancy and Gueye Metz, with both (who I know nothing about other than what is said) now looking to impress Sam Allardyce enough to earn a loan, or permanent move to Ewood Park. 24-year-old Calve is a full-back who has also been linked with Stoke City and Lorient, but Rovers seem to have stolen a march on him. Gueye is 22-years-old and a striker.

A decision on what Calve's future will be is understood to be known by the end of the week, but that of the Senegalese striker Gueye could take a while longer.

hes keepin the same policy as paul ince.when he tried it it had no major effect but once big sam and his scouting ability is gunna be put to use to our joy i cant wait to see who else he brings in! not bad hey blackman scoring on his debut for reserves even tho he was down the peckin order at his former club! FM scouting potential 20! dunno bout this gueye dude, who can we compare him to, with the way he plays ??? i think if we get him itll be a goodbye to rigters (sighs)

Calve or his team mate Chertien (sp) have been looked at. Calve is cheaper tho. Still might be looking at Athletico Madrid's RB, Setiardis (sp?) too. Gueye could be a cracking piece of business, replacing the outbound Paul Gallacher for the same approximate price, providing Babacar can recapture his Senegal form. Big Robinho storm brewing I hear, gonna be messy hahaha

Can't really see us signing anyone that will move anywhere near the first team this window. Names I haven't heard of once again: that said I hadn't heard of Samba before he got here and that turned out ok.

Hmm... interesting. Life with SA is much better than I anticipated. His negotiating skills are impressing me too. In fact it has turned out great for us. All we need to do is win our next two games. Well, even if we only manage one win.... as long as it is against Bolton. Then the tide will have really turned in our favour again. (I had to laugh at what that crazy Dutchman of ours said about having one eye on Europe!!! It is great to have Dunn back.

i agree getting these players in on trial is better than taking a gamble, sam has always been shrewd in transfer market and its these skills that will prove fruitful for rovers

Sam showed when he was at Bolton that he is a great negotiator with charisma and authority. He wont take a gamble with Rovers limited funds, he will make calcualted moves that result in low cost effective signings. If we are to stay up this is the way to do it.

Well Mikey, you will be pleased to know that Sam has 2 lists a List A, which he is working off of right now and a List B which has his targets should RSC goes. Guess which is the better list? JW apparently agrees and last week Rovers apparently went to Man City regarding RSC. With the Kaka deal collapsing and City now pursuing domestic targets again (They have bid for Given this morning) means its highly probably that RSC is off in this window. There are still strike targets being assessed but Janko is No.1 on List B to replace him. Interesting times ahead!

Heard a rumour about Gudjohnsen this morning... surely worth a pop if the Roque is off?

Gudjohnsen would be great especially for the reported £2million but his Father/Agent has come out and said its a non runner basically.
