'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Matt Jansen Leaves Rovers

Sam Allardyce has ended any hope of Matt Jansen making a shock return with Blackburn Rovers after telling Matt that Rovers can't afford to carry passengers during this season's relegation fight.

Big Sam has told the former Rovers striker that he has no future with the club.

Jansen has been training at Rovers since November in an attempt to resurrect his football career which has been in decline since he suffered life-threatening head injuries in a motorbike crash while on holiday in 2002 prior to the World Cup of Japorea.

He was bought in to train on a free, 'informal' basis by ex-Rovers boss Paul Ince. But Sam has crushed the dream.

The Rovers boss confirmed to a Press Conference - "Matt is not training with us anymore."

A sad day for true Rovers fans as Matt Jansen holds a place in all our hearts. I want to be the first to wish Matt all the best for the future and I leave him with this message -

You have been and will always be one of our own.

I think we always knew this was going to be the case but I loved the fact for a while I was allowed to dream.

A sad day for Matt. it always looked that it would end this way. Lets hope it serves as a lesson to all young aspiring footballers. You only get one chance like this and you must look after yourself at all times and live up to the resposibilties this lucrative sport brings. Good look Matt you'll always be remebered at Ewood. I fail to see how Matt training with the club or not makes a difference to our relegation battle?

Rumour has it that Carlisle might give him a shot. Worth a go as he is a cracking bloke and a good presence to have about.

It wasn't going to happen, but I'm glad he wants back in and we tried to help him. Sam didn't crush the dream though, he's back to reality and we need time on the training pitch with the current squad as I'm sure everybody including Jansen understands were in a really precarious position regarding our Premier League status, and that must take priority before any sentiments. I love Matt Jansen though and would love to see him playing at a decent level again, best of luck.

it is a long shot all along, but i commend his effort. it is important that big sam doesn't let sentiment gets in the way.

Hopefully Matty can still get back into the game, Carlisle had left the door open for him hadn't they?!?! Best of luck to him, its a shame the dream couldn't be fulfilled but it was always likely to be just a dream wasn't it.
