Rovers To Miss Out On Givet?

Blackburn Rovers were understood to be close to finalising a move for Gael Givet, at least on trial first but Newcastle United could move in and hijack the move.

The French International (who has won 12 caps) is out of favour with Marseille with the French side willing to let the former Monaco defender (a Champions League runner-up) go but Rovers' request to take the 27-year-old on trial ahead of a loan move for the rest of the season, and a possible summer transfer hasn't gone down that well. This request is understood to have allowed Newcastle to swoop in to complete a loan deal, as they are not thought to need the trial first.

Cant say I know much about this ald but he looks to have the pedigree. We'll see how this one goes but defence needs strengthening so maybe we might miss out?

If it is just a loan deal i do not see the absolut purpose to trial him first...he is an international. It is another thing when we buy them...then I am in full support of trialing them first.

not too sure another centre back is needed
glen9mullan
fair point that redstar but the club still has to fork out wages for them? surely if we aint sure we should ask for a peak first?
Mikey D
i agree mikey, club can only take so many players on loan and we already have 2 at club so its better to get players in on loan who will be looking at getting in first 11, i think the maximum loans is 4
glen9mullan
Could be true, but I think we can take 2 more, if it saves us cash it is a good move.
