'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Monday Morning Gossip

Happy Monday morning to you all. There are some very interesting rumours doing the rounds about ins and outs of Rovers over the January transfer window.

* Kevin Nolan will not be seeking a move away from Bolton, however he has come out with some excellenct 'football jargon' about how he holds Big Sam in high regard etc etc. This is basic football talk for he will stay at Bolton but wouldn't say no.

- Apparently Gary Neville will be joining us as a player coach. Gary has fallen down the pecking order at the Theatre of Arrogance so will be available for a move. Excellent, more rubbish facial hair at the club, we've only just got rid of Bentley!

* Sunderland caretaker boss Ricky Sbragia is being linked with a move to Rovers to hook up with Big Sam again. The Daily Star Sunday says Allardyce is looking to make another senior coaching appointment at Blackburn after dispensing with the (not that popular) Ray Mathias and Archie Knox.

However Sbragia will stay at the Stadium of Light if he lands the top job - hedging your bets there Daily Star?

* Blackburn had to pay a substantial amount for new Rovers assistant manager, Neil McDonald. Rovers had to shell out 200,000 in compensation to secure McDonald from Leeds. Well, if he turns out to be good - and by all accounts he will, then he's worth that and more...

* Roque Santa Cruz is ready to tell new Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce he wants to quit Ewood Park next month.

He is likely to be fined by Allardyce over his comments, but it is unlikely to change his wish to move on. Well if he wants to act like a child...

* Back with the always accurate Daily Star, IF we lose Roque Santa Cruz in the transfer window, his replacement will apparently be ex-Rovers striker James Beattie.<BR>
So for the rumoured to be 6 million fee, we will get a striker who does very little running, takes a great penalty and puts on weight when given the chance - we've had that from Benni for 18 months, do we really want to go through it again!?!?

anyone see any of these coming to fruition?
Mikey D
heard the beattie rumour a couple of times now!!
glen9mullan
More to the point - any of these players anyone actually want? I would still like Nolan personally...
Mikey D
nolan would be interesting, however we need either a rb or rm, emerton can fill the other
sasman
lol, James Beattie rumour is clearly a croque of *****! Only rumour I'm praying for is that we've got an interest in Bullard (who I have always rated)
Money4midfield
Is there anyone out there that doesnt like Jimmy Bullard?!?! What a legend!
Mikey D
i dont like bullard apart from not being suitable for team calender( god that guy is ugly) I now live in wigan and dont want any ex wigan players at rovers as i cant stand em
glen9mullan
lol glen... Tugay and Zurab are hardly lookers are they!??!
Mikey D
James Beattie no way wouldn't want him at all!
roverjoy
i have heard three players strongly linked with rovers....... 1. Jimmy Bullard- he would add an added piece of creativity and flair to the squad and breaks down teams single handedly at fulham, would be a great addition 2. Aiden McGeady- Very silky, very quick( we are desperate for pace) has a superb cross, and is experienced. 3. James Beattie- Nooooooooo, hahaha, do not want him, would rather have kuqi back!
whitey_82003
Mcgeady is class player but united and liverpool are both keen on him, which i think can rule us out of the equation. If i was big sam i would buy, scharner, (cant believe im saying this) steven hunt great scoring right winger and fits the profile keightley and stearman from wolves both good under21 players and have big futures. Diaby from arsenal on loan, fans have turned on him and new surroundings could just reignite him an 5 months at rovers would add nice cover in centre mid. All these are realistic targets that are affordable and would show an interest in signing for rovers
glen9mullan
I know Sas haas pushed for him but apparently Ryan Taylor is available from Wigan for about 750k... surely worth a go?
Mikey D
I rate Ryan Taylor, and at that price well worth a pop! Still need an out and out right winger though, and play Emerton where ever there is a hole that needs filling! Apparently Dioff is on his way to Ewood...
Decimus Poole
Taylor would be an option but i think the price tag would be nearer 3 million, and he is in the wigan team at the mo
glen9mullan
But rumour has it that is what Wigan are asking Hull price wise for him... surely, surely if that is true he has got to be worth a pop.
