Allardyce: Rovers Star Players STAY!

New Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is understood to have taken the job on the guarantee that the star players at Ewood Park won't be sold in January.

Allardyce didn't seem that keen on the managers job at Ewood at first (with it even understood that he had ruled himself out) but was installed on Wednesday and that famous of sources "an insider" has revealed that Big Sam ONLY took the job as he was given assurances that the top players, in particular Roque Santa Cruz would be kept and not sold in January.

This insider told the Sun: "Sam is overjoyed to be back in football.

"But he wouldn't have taken the job if Blackburn planned to sell their best players.

"The board agreed and gave their assurance he keeps who he wants.
"

Other newspaper reports are saying that Santa Cruz WILL in actual fact be sold for £20 million in January, with this money then used as Big Sam's war chest to bring in reinforcements! Just goes to show that the national media don't really know what is going on!!!

Not only does Big Sam NEED that backing in keeping players he also needs to be given some funding to bring in new ones!

One thing is for sure - things are looking up.

I agree, but I think selling Roque IS an option. As long as he doesn't but Kevin Davies - I don't mind what he does as long as he takes us up the table.

Either way, we wont be complaining about the players being unfit. According to the Bolton players, Allardyce worked them like a dog back in the day... more of that Big Sam!
Mikey D
Lol i was bout to write an article saying Big same given a big War chest, with 10 mill plus 20 mill from the sale of roque, lol ah well, that can wait now....
sasman
Big Same?!?!? lol
Mikey D
I'm not sure about this - I don't think the board would have sold our top players unless the manager would have ok'd it. And saying that RSC (etc) have always been in the papers fopr transfers.

I am just curious here...where is Roque suppously going for 20 MIL?

RSC is in the papers every day - it is called lazy journalism!!!
Mikey D
RSC to City...? If Hughes is still there in the new year (!??!), and if thats the way we want to go...Personally, I see him staying, and Big Sam getting funds in the region of £7 - £10 million to bring in his own personell. However, I would think most of the money would go on wages (given his passed record at Bolton - buy 'em cheap, pay 'em well...). I could see Nolan in Rovers shirt by end of January!

I wouldnt mind Nolan but surely someone like Andrews or the Axe would have to go first? or even both?
Mikey D
I wanted nolan a few seasons back and still woulnt mind him, but with the board being very cagey on there answers about money available, i think we will be going with what we have, i would like villanueva to play between now and xmas tho and try and secure a move as i think he has alot to give
glen9mullan
maybe but his physique seems to be holding him back....
Mikey D
I just hope he doesn't go in for Barton
