Fowler To Wash Up On The Seaside?

It looks like Robbie Fowler could be leaving Rovers soon and taking a step down to League Two with Grimsby.

Grimsby are very keen not just to have the striker but also the profile it would give the club to attract a Liverpool legend like Robbie.

Unfortunately, Robbie has been borderline useless at Blackburn apart from his debut v Everton.

There have also been questions over his weight and he is clearly 5th choice striker at Ewood behind Santa Cruz, Matty Derbsyhire, Benni McCarthy and Jason Roberts.

Grimsby Chairman clarified the details to Grimsby's website - 'The situation is this: A couple of weeks ago the manager had some discussions with Robbie and then he asked me if we could potentially take it forward for Robbie to come in some sort of playing/coaching capacity,'

'That has come about because of Mike's friendship with him and also the fact that it had been mooted that Robbie has said that he wanted to get onto the management ladder.

'Obviously, we saw a potential opportunity here, and after discussing it through with Robbie, it was quite clear that Robbie wants to keep playing at the highest level possible for as long as he possibly can.

'He is now waiting for Blackburn to clarify their position. He is under contract there until December.

'There is a real chance, and logically it is likely to happen this way, in that he gets a contract extension at Blackburn.

'If this doesn't happen, there is a glimmer of a chance that he might come to Grimsby.

'In truth, we were trying to avoid this becoming a public issue but I think I needed to clarify the situation with regards Robbie Fowler.

'It wasn't meant to get out, I don't know how it was leaked, to that extent I feel that it needs this clarification.'

I honestly can't see Robbie staying beyond the length of his current deal, unless Ince has not been watching of course!

I do personally think that it is time for Robbie to go. He has had his chance and it hasnt cost us much but he is clearly not up to task.

Paul Ince seems to like the impact he has on the squad but an he really make a big impression on the pitch? it seems doubtful.

Get him to the Hawthorns - we need a poacher. Can't hurt! Shame he's not got more game time for you guys, but he may be a *bit* unfit.

what about battered cod? Not the healthiest that...

Yeah he has had his chance and he has done next to nothing. Nice ball for Olsson last night but that will be his lasting memory of a short spell with a club he should have joined years ago!
