Robinson Backed For England Spot

Rovers boss Paul Ince believes that Paul Robinson deserves a crack in the England shirt again.

Having had a good start to the season and showing his ability, Robinson has really stepped it up with a great showing in between the sticks against Chelsea.

Robinson looks like a man rejuvenated and his nightmare period in net for Spurs is now a long gone memory.

Robbo's confidence is clearly back and he looks like the goalkeeper we all hoped he would be.

Ince, speaking to Sky Sports said: 'I think he deserves a chance. It is a friendly, so why not? I know David James has the shirt but since Robbo came here, he has been outstanding.

'It was a great bit of business bringing him in. As far as I am concerned, he is the best goalkeeper in the league - and he can get better.

'He had a lack of confidence at Tottenham due to not playing. He wanted a fresh start and he has his head screwed on. He is really focused on his job and you can see that in his performances.'

'It is important for a goalkeeper to get on with a goalkeeping coach and they get on really well. They are good mates,'

'Paul loves coming into training every day and loves what he is doing. You can see that on the pitch.'

I would be really chuffed for Paul Robinson if he got a chance, I think he has earnt it. He has a long way to go to match Brad's efforts at Ewood but he has earnt a crack at trying to get that infamous night in Croatia out of his system and to make some new, happier memories for himself.

Go on Fab...

Damn you Mr Mikey, I just wrote an article on this, if I'd ONLY been home from work and sorted about 10 minutes sooner I'd have got there as well!!! I'd have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids LOL!

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned this is what I think about a possible recall. Friendlies are for trying new things, so there is no reason for Robbo not to be given a start. However, as far as I am concerned he is in form for Rovers (which is most important for me) and I have concerns that being recalled to the starting XI with England might see him used as a scapegoat if things go wrong and this could dent his confidence again?!?! If Capello wants someone else as his #1 so be it!!!
Walker
I kind of see where you are coming from but starting him in a friendly will remind him that he is a big party of England's future. I wouldnt play him competitively just yet but he has earnt a place in my books...

And you snooze you lose boss!!!

If I was snoozing I'd accept it more. Those ********s that make me work that need to pay LOL!

I like the fact that Robbo is not England keeper - it means that he is getting back his confidence and concentrating on his game. Capello will realise that he should be his no.1 choice, but right now he doesn't need the distraction

Great performance from Robbinson last sunday...if he keeps playing that way, he'll be England's Nș 1 in no time
diegoveron
yes he deserves a go........but I keep wondering why there is a need for a freindly at this time of year......not long after some internationals.......all it does is lead to un-necessary injuries to players.....

That is true lincoln blue... I think Nelsen said for one week that there were only 4 players in training at one point due to internationals. It is difficult to work with that but it is a risk if you have top class players.
