Ince Hails "Awesome" Chelsea

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has heaped praise on Chelsea, ahead of our meeting with them on Sunday.

Chelsea had always got the job done under Jose Mourinho (getting the results and the silverware to prove this) but Ince feels that under the awesome Luiz Felipe Scolari they have gone to another level of attacking football that is a joy to watch, but they have that balance of defence and attack right.

Ince told Sky Sports: "They are absolutely awesome. Under Mourinho they were a fantastic outfit, one of the best, but had a lot of 1-0 results and based their game on defensive play.

"Now they play more expansive and attractive football and they are a joy to watch.

"It always was Manchester United and Arsenal you enjoyed watching because of the way they played and now you can add Chelsea to that.

"Some of their play has been absolutely delightful.

"Chelsea are starting to play with that arrogance that Manchester United and Arsenal have and that makes them very dangerous.

"We always knew they were solid and now under Scolari their football is different class.
"

Chelsea were thrashed in Italy on Wednesday evening in the Champions League by Roma, and that isn't a good thing for Rovers at all as Ince fears a backlash this Sunday.

He added: "They will have been hurt getting beaten by Roma and will probably have a point to prove.

"We are under no illusions. Technically they are better players than us, they are world class-players, but we can't afford to be in fear of them.

"If we work as hard as we can and get a little bit of luck and by playing our football, who knows?

"We'll have a go at them that's for sure.
"

Incey is right Scolari has Chelsea playing some superb football, the best football that I (and many others) have seen them play for a long while. If we could take a point now I'm not sure you would find many that wouldn't be happy with it. It'll be a tough match for us, but why bother turning up if we are throwing in the towel before we even begin!!!

Fingers crossed Chelsea have an off day and we have one of our best. Give me a point now and I'll take it no questions asked. If we give it a go though anything is possible, we have shown in the past that we can give them (and all the other top sides) a game.

I would take a point. Can't see us getting anything though. However, as you say, we can only hope we are at the races from the start, and Chelsea are still shell-shocked at losing mid-week. Hopefully Roberts will start repaying his new contract straight away!

Under Scolari I feel Chelsea are only going to get stronger. My fingers are crossed they dont come out raging and perhaps are still feeling a bit downbeat from the loss, but with the mentality Scolari has instilled in those players I doubt that will happen. As much as I would love to see our much improved style of football award us with 3 points more often, I don't feel it will be this weekend. I think a point against them would be a great result. Under Hughes sometimes I felt that once we had conceded one against a "Top Four" side our heads would drop and the second goal was inevitable. Under Ince I have seen much more fighting spirit and the players dont give up on a game so easily, with many more goals in the last 10 minutes than we used to score.

I think we are in with a shout guys. I want us to have a go. We are due some luck and you never know - stranger things have happened.

Yes Merlin - thrashed! however, I think scolari will want them to bounce back with a good display against us.

what disappoints me this season has been how uncompetitive we were against ManU and Arsenal when we were seeing the like of stoke, hull, everton, hotspur, fulham,...pushing the "big 4" to the limit.
dominator2800
I agree there Dominator but its time to right a few wrongs...

I cant see you getting anything out of this..........

good luck Blackburn, i have to have a soft spot for you with my adopted countrymen at the helm, Ryan Nelsen. obviously im hoping for a blues win, but it will be a tough match.

"We are under no illusions. Technically they are better players than us" - exactly why we lost and explains his tactics. It is this sort of comment, which I regularly read from Ince that puts us on a psychological defeat before a ball is even kicked. Nice one Charlie!

Alright roversman lol... he was just being honest... he did say we would have a good go. We just dont need to show them so much respect.
