'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Emo : I Want Top Six

The long serving Brett Emerton is aiming for a top six finish this season with Blackburn and has been encouraged by the start they have made. Particularly with the type of football that is being played.

But he does admit that the blue and white army, despite creating chances, need to start taking them, otherwise that aim of a high finish will not be realised.

Emo, talking to Sky Sports said - 'Obviously after the weekend we felt we should have possibly won the game, we didn't take our chances, but in the end got a deserved equaliser,' Emerton told Sky Sports News.

'We will pick ourselves up and take positives from the game and take them into the game against Villa on Wednesday.

'Going forward, even in the game on Saturday against Boro, we were quite good and created numerous chances and just didn't find the back of the net, but that is football.

'I think we still have a lot of positives from the game and like I say, hopefully if we play as well as we did on Saturday against Villa, we can get a result there.'

'I think when we first set out we were aiming for a top-six finish, as we did in the last couple of seasons, and I think we have the ability within the side to achieve that.

'So hopefully if things go well we can get there.'

Positive words there from one half of the Aussie contingent.

Brett is one of the senior players at Rovers now and he should be imprinting this positive feeling onto the other players. Go on Brett!

As i said in one of the other articles that Brett is fast becoming one of my favourite Rovers. He clearly loves the club (trying to convince others to come proves that) and he always gives !00%. I was critical of him in the past (im sure he took note of this) but he is one of our most important players now.

You have some really good players, and amanager who is showing his qualities, but a l;ot of teams are after the top 6 now and I struggle to see what will take Blackburn there, unless it is persistence.
Sindbad
Emerton and Grella sindbad.....thats what will take us there, and a bit of benni mc and roque lol

Top 6 aint out of the question - think that Spurs will struggle to get there now, even with Redknapp, Everton have had a bit of a bad start themselves, Portsmouth have lost the main man, Hull will more than likely fall away, but it would be good to see them saty up round there to the end..... which leaves Villa - who were going to be up there anyway and obviously the top 4 - so with some luck and a run of games then why not?!?!?!?
Clint
I just couldn't agree more with Emo! Top six is what we should aim...and the lads have what it takes to do it.-
diegoveron
to be fair why not aim high?!

We've had an indifferent start to this campaign with 3 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses, but i remain optimistic because Ince is starting to find a balance to the side and we're starting to play a bit of football! If we can get our main strikers to hit a bit of form sooner rather than later ther's no reason why we can't mount a challenge for UEFA Cup spots. The key is to keep within touching distance with the likes of Villa & City over the course of the season and not fall too far behind them because they'll be there thereabouts. A win at Villa tommorrow night would be massive and could really kickstart our season. I agree with what Clint is sayin above, Spurs will struggle big time to get back into the race for Europe, Everton look dodgey and Pompey could go downhill under Tony Adams so why not us???

I think the main thing is that we ARE creating the chances, if we werent doing that I would be deeply worried. If we create the chances then we are going to hit a patch of consistency very soon...

Aim high, that the way to go!
Walker
Champions League anyone?!
