Vogel Actively Pursuing A Move Away

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Johann Vogel is on his way out of Ewood Park.

Vogel was signed by former Rovers manager Mark Hughes last season but hasn't been involved in Paul Ince's first-team squad in any of the matches this season and his ten matches from last season look like being the only ones that the 31-year-old will make for Rovers with Stephen Firth (Chief Executive Officer of International Sports Management, his Agency) admitting that he is looking to organise a move for the former AC Milan man in January.

Firth told setantasports.com: "In the games that he played towards the latter end of last season he did very well, but managers have their thought processes and their opinions, to which they're entitled.

"We've spoken to John Williams and he said he would listen to what the manager has to say and from there he will make a decision, but I think that while Paul remains the coach it will be in Johann's best interests to move on.

"We have been granted permission to explore other opportunities for Johann in the forthcoming window and those are being done.

"It wouldn't be appropriate for me to name the clubs involved because Johann is still registered to Blackburn Rovers but we have permission from John Williams to seek out other opportunities and, whether they be in the UK or in Europe, they are being actively pursued.

"We would hope he will leave in January but Johann has a contract and he will only leave if all appropriate terms are met which is not always an easy process.
"

The former Switzerland International (who is contracted to Rovers until 2010) is someone that most of us rate, so the fact that he hasn't been given a chance at all surprises most.

Meanwhile Rovers have taken highly rated Ahmed Al-Muhamadi on trial.

The 21-year-old Egyptian International forward (who currently plays for Egyptian side ENPPI) has previously been linked with Hertha Berlin and should join on a five-day trial.

It's strange that Ince doesn't like the look of Vogel but with Stevie W being used in a midfield role ahead of him proves how out of favour (for whatever reason) he is. Anyone know anything about Al-Muhamadi?!?!
Walker
someone brought him up in the forums boss personally I have no clue

Well- very suspicious in my opinion. Vogel did play some great football a year ago, and with Dunn&Reid long term concerns I'd really doubt the move...I have'nt seen Andrews yet, but neither Grella nor Warnock can attack or pass as well as Vogel.

We dont know how he looks this season though do we? he may have gone downhill or he may have re-developed that bad attitude that has plagued him his career. I am not saying he has either of those but we just dont know...

Just out of interest, where in the midfield does he play? DCM, ACM, LM, RM? He must have been good if he played for milan.
powerspur
he is a DM powerspur and from what we saw of him last season a damn good one too. Its a shame he is leaving the club, As Isrealirover says with perma injured Reid and Dunn a bit of cover is always helpful

I though he was good but he didnt offer much going forward at all. A good holding player but we have Axe, Andrews and now Grella... theres no point having 4. And I know Vogel is talented but Ince by the looks of things just doesnt rate him having seen him - so he goes and life moves on. Good luck Johann.
Mikey D
im pretty shocked by it to be honest. maybe its a personal thing with ince, who knows. after the end of last season, i thought vogel was brilliant and was really looking forward to seeing him this season so it is a shame he hasnt been involved. oh well.
RyanRover9495
When he was playing last year, Blackburn was competitive including a near win against Man U. Without him I think they have generally struggled and are not half the team they were last season. He is not a flashy player put is a smart/effective footballer who is a real leader on the pitch. He doesn't make many mistakes either and can quitely leave his mark on the game. Not sure why Ince is not playing him but he would do no worse then the guys who are playing now. Just my humble opinion...

I still prefer Grella...

I would def have played him this season, Warnock has done well but its not his favored position - Vogel and Grella in the middle would have given us abit of a bite at least - I agree that with Dunn and Reid out and Andrews just coming to terms with the Premier League then not playing Vogel seems a bit odd!! everyone is entitled to their own person opinion but when the good of the club comes into it then maybe the manager should consider every option he has at the club!
Clint
I am just one more that doesn't understand why Voguel hasn't played a sinhle minute this season. I just don't get it. I liked him last season and I thought he would be a big hit for the team this season. Well, good luck for him then.

Like you guys said, it's not like the Rovers have the best middfield in the premiership. I thought they could have done with his experience at least. Leads me to believe that it might be personal...
