No Release "Claus" In Santa's Contract

No Release

Blackburn have strongly denied claims that star striker Roque Santa Cruz has an £18million release clause in his contract.

Rovers sent City boss Mark Hughes back from where he came when they reportedly had a £12m bid turned down by his former club for Roque in the summer.

Roque was then also misquoted about a move to Man City last week, even though the quotes which were taken out of context then fuelled rumours about a move.

But the Paraguayan repeatedly insists that he is happy at Ewood Park, so do his agents.

However, what are the odds of the media ignoring the denial and going full steam ahead to fill the papers with Santa to City rumours until January.

I however don't think that John Williams and co. would put a clause in his contract as that would be silly considering how that snookered us with Craig Bellamy a few years back.

And no that headline doesn't mean that Santa Claus can escape on Christmas Eve... he is still obligated to fulfil his duties.

Seriously though, I think this is true as Rovers surely wouldnt agree to put a price on their main striker - especially as his value will continue to increase.

Once bitten, twice shy and all that lot. So WHY would we put ourselves in a position like that again, however, an £18 million release clause would be better than it could be!!!

There is no way that after Bellamy that Rovers would put in one of these clauses in Roque's contract and im not to sure whether at the time the player would have asked for one either, as im guessing he would just have been happy to be playing again!! We have been a target for the papers lately unfortunatley NOT for footballing reasons but for silly stupid wee stories that make no sense but earns some lazy reporter some money, suppose its not a bad way to earn pennies - fiction writing

Sometimes we have no choice in these matters as the Bellamy situation dictated. However, I would like to turn most people's attention to the main source of these stories and others pertaining to problems at Ewood. Thank you the Daily Mirror and one journalist in particular. I won't mention a name but go through the origins of most of these stories and see which name keeps repeating. I think someone might have a grudge or is simply not very good at their job!!

Christ Almighty!!! Now he is being linked with Villa, with Marlon Harewood coming the other way as part of a player plus cash deal. What a load of crap. I wish they would all get off the band wagon!!!
