Benni Is Ready To Hit Form Again

Benni McCarthy has expressed his frustration at lack of first team starts this season. However, in a 'that's more like it!' moment, Benni says he is confident he will rediscover his goalscoring form for Blackburn and convince manager Paul Ince he is worth a regular start.

McCarthy hasn't scored this season but he looked sharp when he came on against Bolton and has promised future effort to spark a return to form.

McCarthy has plenty of competition this season, Rovers' other forwards are Roque Santa Cruz, Jason Roberts, Matt Derbyshire and Robbie Fowler - 5 quality forwards who can a positive effect on play.

McCarthy though, is determined to force his way back to the form that bagged him 24 goals in his debut season.

Benni Mac, who's attitude has been called into question more than once by this writer, even went to great lengths to impress Blackburn boss Paul Ince by busting a gut to get back to England in time for the game against Bolton at the weekend.

McCarthy, speaking to the Sun newspaper, said - "It`s very frustrating, I`m just taking my time and I`ll try to take advantage of any chance that springs my way.

The most important thing is just getting off the mark. Once that first one goes in, then the confidence comes back.

It definitely will. My form is good in the national team. I scored a really good goal against Ghana, even if I say so myself.

I only came back from South Africa today (Saturday)," he said. "We flew on Friday night because we were in Bloemfontein, not Johannesburg, and we were back at 11.30am. I was keen to play.

It`s the second day when you start feeling the jet-lag. I felt good out there and I`m glad I got on the pitch.

I flew to Manchester then drove over to join up with the guys in Bolton. It`s good to get a game even if it`s for a few minutes."

Now THAT is the right attitude Benni, well done.

I like the sound of what he is saying... I hope to see Benni back to form as on form Benni is priceless.

I fancy Benni to be the spark we need right now! That first goal will come against Boro and we will see the Benni of old return!

Pleased to see this long over-due change in his attitude, you always felt that it was the one thing that he needed to get right if he was to force his way into Ince's plans. I'm sure he'll get his chance soon enough.

That's what we DO want to hear from Benni. With the right attitude (like spinaker said) he WILL have more of a chance, but he can't throw a paddy again if he doesn't get this right away. When back in he has to show he means it and MAKE Incey unable to leave him out.

He sounds a bit like Matty on this and the more players with young Matty's attitude the better!!!

I feel its about time benni did his talking on the pitch. We have heard this before frim him and got nothing, I'd love for him to come good an be the player we know he can be but I just dont see it.

I agree with Durks.......i loved Benni but to be honest he HAS said all of this before. I can give him a chance but any performances short of his best wont do!!! Come on Benni be the man we bought 2 yrs ago, you and Santa firing would be unstoppable and it would mean we didn't have to see JR's touch bouncing off his shins all match!!! ha ha
