Ince: It's A Great Point

Ince: It's A Great Point

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince was pleased with his side after we came away from the Reebok Stadium with a point on Saturday following a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Jason Roberts missed an absolute sitter, which would've handed us the points in the Derby but Bolton also went close so Ince was pleased overall with Rovers' point even if he was disappointed with Roberts' miss.

Ince told Sky Sports: "It's disappointing, because obviously it was a golden chance and you've got to take them against teams like Bolton, and next time I'm sure he'd put it in the back of the net.

"But as I said, it's a great point. The way that Bolton play, the style that they play with, it's never easy, but I thought our back five were absolutely top class.

"And Ooijer, who I asked to play at left-back to stifle the Davies threat down the left, was top class - he did a job for the team and he was outstanding.

"You know when you're playing a team like Bolton you'll have to defend.

"Some people have questioned the spirit of this team, but you saw that in abundance today.

Robbie Fowler was handed a surprise full debut by Ince (cue Oz with is "friends before others" comments!!!) and even though Incey DOESN'T need to explain himself he did so to set the record straight as to why Benni McCarthy didn't start the match.

He added: "He did well Robbie. He gives you that experience and his goalscoring record against Bolton is second-to-none, so I had a funny feeling he might score today.

"He didn't really get the chance to do that but he played a role for the team and not for himself.

"Believe it or not, Benni only got back to our hotel from South Africa today at one o'clock, which is a bit of a joke to be fair, but he has played two games for them and you could see that when he came on.

Incey also said that he hoped Roque Santa Cruz would be fit to return from injury for our next match.

No doubt some won't be happy with this point, and won't be happy with Incey's "friend" Fowler starting ahead of McCarthy but all I can say is it could've been worse, we might have lost! A point at Bolton isn't a bad result and playing Fowler ahead of McCarthy doesn't concern me. Had this been ahead of Santa (if fit) I would've been more worried. Incey is the manager and he is the one that has to stand by his decisions.

Some people like watching 2nd division players who couldnt score in the division below ours in over 90 attempts ahead of internationals who have scored for their countries..Pederson Grella are the charlies..stop scoring in internationals and our charlie might be ok he has to pay his friends off..we didnt look like giving newcastle everton or fulham a chance when our under 21 international started our charlie picks his friends so we watch utter rejected garbage from the lower leagues .

***** off Oz seriously, you are tedious and very ******** annoying. Grella hasn't played in weeks and what you want him thrown straight back in? Or Pedersen who cant get a game for Norway? seriously MGP has been cat for a long time and now is *****ed off that he hasn't got it so easy because Treacy is coming through? Do you remember last season at th reebok and only winning in the last minute or has your view on Ince just made you cloud everything?

Jesus!!! He goes well over the top man! I know i slated Andrews/Ince before, but at least i admitted when I was wrong. I thought we were all supposed to be Rovers fans on ere????

Fowler has a proven record against Bolton 12 goals in the last 13 games against them. Maybe that's why Ince started with him. Some people have aknack of scoring against some clubs. However, cannot see why he insists on playing Warnock in the midefield, and playing Ooijer at left back...? I'm sure there is some method behind what can only be madness, but I'm struggling to find it!

Decimus - He said he played Ooijer at left back to stifle the DAvies threat, which to be fair he did well mate. And SyekotikRover - We have tried and tried again to get Oz to see that he is an ignorant sod but he shows more ignorance in ignoring us. And we are all Rovers fans on here mate - except Oz, fans support the club whether they agree sometimes or not.
