Reid to miss another season

Steven Reid, no stranger to the surgeons table, has been given the most devestating of news that yet again, he will miss the remainder of the season.

The luck of the Irish, or lack of which we should say, has shone on Reid throughout his career. After missing the 2006-2007 season with back and knee injuries, Reid has been informed that yet again, he requires surgery on the injured knee which has kept him out of action for 4 weeks. The rehabilation time is estimated to be up to 7 months, effectively ending another campaign for the lad.

What can you say. Devestating news, for Steven Reid, for the Republic of Ireland, and for the Blackburn Rovers football club.

We can only wish Reid a safe recovery, and hopefully he will be back to his best for next season.

Get Well Reidy!!!!

Whether you rate the lad or not, you really do have to feel sorry for him, really hasnt had any luck with injuries at all.... Looks like the signing of Andrews could be a valuable 1 after all

Sasman is there two articles on this it certainly looks that way!?!
durks de rover
The only guy who would or might be able to cover EMO..the right side is now really suspect
oztheman
So nice he posted it twice!!! So harsh on Reidy, whether you rate him or not he seems such a great lad and he doesnt deserve this.
Mikey D
Oz - Carlos Villanueva? Matt Derbyshire? They may not be ideal but they can sure as heck play there.
Mikey D
Man... is devastated to be football player and get injuries all the time. I feel sorry for Reid, he must be frustrated, because you can't do what you like. Roque had been there before (Fun fact: Did you know that Roque didn't complete, because of major injuries, 7 out of 8 seasons at Bayern, inlcudin 4 surgeries!)
diegoveron
Thats the only reason he aint playing for someone like Barcelona or Arsenal IMO... their loss is our gain though!
Mikey D
I like Reid a lot as a player and this is gutting not only for the him but the team, a player that can play anywhere really in the squad is a valuable player at the best of times but when he's a good footballer to boot then........... i for one wish him a speedy recovery
Clint
Shocking!! The downside is that he'll probably never get back to the form he was producing when United were reportably interested in him - Our loss
Wellsy
Reid has 1.5 years left on his contract. We therefore must sell him in the coming summer. I think he was a great CM, and I even remember that Alex Ferguson tried to lure him to MAn Utd. However he seems to struggle to stay fit for more than 3-4 games- We can't afford that...
IsraeliRover
I still cant believe it... I am so gutted for him.
Mikey D
Israeli, i don't think anyone would take him for decent money anyway.....would you??? Would rather us take a chance on him than give him a way......gutted
mani13963
mani13963- even if we don't get enough money for him, at least we don't have to pay his wages, do we.
IsraeliRover
ouch sorry lads didn't notice I posted twice poor Reid however I feel we need emo out wide
sasman
All I can say is one full season in the team earned him a lucrative contract and since signing in 2003/4 season has played 98 games in all competitions and 87 of them are league appearances. When you consider that rovers have averaged 45 games a season the last 5-6 years, thats a potential 225 appearances approximately and reid hasnt even made 50% Over hyped, Overvalued and Injury prone, we need to mutually terminate his contract, restructure his deal to a pay as you play deal or get a decent sum for his services as Reid as a Rover is finished!
BomBom
ow be nice bombom, i new you were gonna say something like that, poor reid....
sasman
Bom... leaving aside your personal feelings, surely you have to feel sorry for him?
Mikey D
Poor guy. He is a good player and can player in many positions, this reminds me of Paul Warhurst - good utility player, but always injured!
