Panathinaikos Interested In Andre Ooijer???

Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer is understood to be a New Year transfer target for Panathinaikos.

The veteran Dutch International is out of contract next summer and is almost certain to leave Ewood Park when that time comes. Over the past six-month or so the 34-year-old has been linked with a return to Holland, but has remained with Rovers. However, a move of £500,000 from the Greek club (managed by former Chelsea coach Henk ten Cate) is being claimed for January and could tempt Rovers to do business.

Ooijer has been a good defender for us but if we can recoup half a million for him in January (as opposed to nothing next summer) then I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.

I do agree with you, however, i do feel if we can steal a euro spot somehow this season, oijer's experience would be vital, and im sure he would get a 1 year extension
sasman
After that shocker against Chelsea I would argue he has been our most consistent defender.

Oojier is good and I rate him but £500,000 for a 34yr old, I'll pack his bags himself!! lol I would use the money to invest in the team, prob helping to bring in another young(ish) centre-back, as we have options at rite back until the end of the season at least
Clint
£500,000 would be good money for him but can we buy a similar standard defender for £500,000? I would argue probably not.
Mikey D
I'd sell him even though he's probably our best defender. And so we do need cover at RB- maybe Kelly or Foley will do the job?
