Robbie's Rovers Gamble

Robbie's Rovers Gamble

New Blackburn Rovers striker Robbie Fowler has admitted that he has taken a risk signing the deal he has at Ewood Park, but he's sure the fans will be happy that he has.

The 33-year-old has signed a short-term three-month deal with Rovers that will see him pick up less than half of the £15,000 per week he was earning at Cardiff City last season (which proves this move ISN'T motivated by money!) and although this is a gamble on his part he feels he can justify this move and the fans will see how much he wants it if and when his chances come, which the veteran will look to take.

Fowler said: "I've had a difficult time with injuries but I know what I can do. It's pay as you play so if I score loads of goals, perhaps I'll be classed as a bargain.

"There's no goal bonus, unfortunately. I wish there was. If I do well and score goals, great. If I don't, then what has anyone lost?

"But I'll only be a bargain if I'm playing and scoring. I didn't have much of an option. It's not ideal but it's a gamble I'm prepared to take. If I'm honest, I thought I'd played my last Premier game.

"Two years ago I was scoring goals and playing for Liverpool. I've not deteriorated that badly.

"I'm in the Premier now. I want to stay here. You don`t lose that hunger for goals
."

We cant go wrong here... if he is shocking, we have paid him very little. If he bags a few, we are quids in. Good, low risk move.

The only reason we would sell the club is for extra transfer spending money... if robbie sold ALL his house he might be able to afford it but wouldnt really be able to invest.
