Rovers Loan Fielding To Northampton

Blackburn Rovers have loaned Frank Fielding to Northampton Town on a three-month loan deal.

20-year-old Fielding joins the League One club where he will challenge Chris Dunn (who has just taken over as the number one at Northampton after we signed Mark Bunn) for the right to be the Cobblers' number one goalkeeper. Fielding spent last season on loan with League Two side Wycombe Wanderers, where he was able to make 39 appearances in a highly successful spell, so another spell out on loan (and at a higher level) will do him the world of good, and give a young goalkeeper (who is already highly rated) even more chance to impress.

Meanwhile as expected Rostyn Griffiths has completed his loan move to League Two side Accrington Stanley.

The 20-year-old Australian makes the short trip to Accrington for an initial one-month period.

Good moves for both youngsters. I know that Brad Friedel rated Fielding VERY highly, so hopefully he can one day get his chance at Ewood?

Better to loan them out than lose them because of lack of opportunity. I would really like to know what the strategy is with regard to Judge, who is a fantastic prospect, in my opinion. If there is a player more in the mould of Alan Ball than this lad, I have yet to see him.
