Williams: Rovers Won't Sell Out

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams has vowed not to sacrifice the clubs proud family heritage in the quest to find a new owner at Ewood Park.

With more and more clubs being subjected to high profile takeover bids, with Manchester City being the latest as the Abu Dhabi United Group (and all its millions!!!) moves in to finalise the takeover of our Premier League rivals, it makes it increasingly difficult for clubs like Rovers to compete. However, despite the ongoing quest to find a new owner at Ewood Williams is adamant that Rovers WON'T sell out the club simply because a potential investor might have untold millions. The Walker Trustees want to make sure that a potential new owner comes in with the best interests of the club and the fans at heart.

Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph: "It has made it harder to compete. (Williams was referring to the Man City buy-out.)

"It's very difficult, but our owners are looking and continuing to use their advisors to find potential purchasers of the club or shares.

"Until that happens, we cut our cloth accordingly and do the best we can.

"But if one of our competitors gets unforecasted money, in the case of Manchester City - and good luck to them - then it is difficult.

"There is quite a lot of work going on, and professional people are out their searching for the right deal for Blackburn Rovers.

"Everyone here always wants to wish that the club is eventually passed to someone who will carry on the very proud heritage that we've had since 1875.
"

Personally as much as I would like to see some investment in Rovers, as without this we WILL be left behind (and these other clubs will eventually start coming in and picking off our best players for huge amounts of money) the principles, and morals of this club are VERY important. So being able to maintain this integrity is crucial to our future as well, as this is what Uncle Jack would've wanted and is hopefully what his Trustees are also looking for, hence why previous takeovers bid have failed (as you would assume, or at least hope, that they had fallen short of these expectations?)

Investment is needed, but selling our soul isn't so if we can manage to do one without the other then everybodies happy. It'll be tough to do this, but it's not impossible.

I can see the chairman's point of view but our obvious lack of funds does worry me.....we can't go on forever plucking golden nuggets from nowhere.....sooner or later we gotta spend!!! We need the cash..
