Emerton : Grella Will Be Big Hit

Blackburn Rovers' Australian midfielder Brett Emerton has every confidence in Vince Grella to make a big impact at Ewood Park.

Twenty-eight-year-old Grella made his Rovers debut in the frankly unlucky 4-1 defeat at West Ham at the weekend, where Rovers were shafted by the linesman and the ref. Grella himself looked steady but looked a little short of match fitness.

But Emerton is backing his Socceroos team-mate to do the business in the long run for the mighty Blue and Whites.

Emo told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: 'Vince is a fantastic player, I've played with him since I was quite young.

'He's more of a defensive minded midfielder, but he's going to be another great asset to this team.

'He doesn't necessarily get beyond the ball, but what he does he does very well.

'We need those types of players within this team as well as our attacking flair and I think he'll fit in well.'

Whilst he looked shattered at half time, Grella showed he has the abilities to make the role his own.

I am sure Grella will love a mate who is here already. He will settle in quicker because Brett is at ewood to help him. I have every confidence in Vince to make Sas's dream come true.

Grella was honest at the weekend as well, he stated he was not fit enough to play the second half, whcih shows good professionalism on his behalf.

I heard he almost cut someone in half with a tackle on his debut :-)
merlin
True that roverjoy... theres no point carrying on if he is shattered like I do on Sunday mornings for my sunday league team!!! lol

We've only EVER heard good things about him from Sas, so I'm glad he's finally here and look forward to him being fully into the swing of things at Ewood, as after all the hype I DO expect quite a lot from him!!! So no pressure LOL!
Walker
Lets hope he gets up to our fitness levels quickly as he sounds like a player who should be in the starting 11.

The fact he went straight into the X1 shows the management expect him to be on the ball straight away.

Sure he'll do a great job but will he create anythin??? prob not....hope villeneuve comes in to the fray after the international break, we need the creativity he brings.

Well Grella was certianly a big hit on the west ham player he pole axed. Not that Impressed TBH but we'll wait for him to settle, needs to retain the ball better.
