Rovers Miss Out On Late Signing

Blackburn boss Paul Ince missed out on a major deadline day signing at the last minute.

In the L.E.T today it reveals that Ince and co. worked all day on a deal to bring in potentially Rovers' 7th summer signing but were finally thwarted at around 10pm by a late snag.

On the flip side, Rovers received 3 bids from an undisclosed club for one of their players. At a guess I would say it was Stephen Warnock and the club was Newcastle but that is merely speculation.

Blackburn chairman John Williams, who described the summer as one of the busiest he`s had at the club since he became chairman, said to the Telegraph: "There was a possible deal that we were working on, but it didn`t materialise.

"There was also sustained interest from another club for one of our players."

Rovers will now have to sit tight for the January window to bring in anyone else now - except of course those players out of contract.

Shame we couldn't bring anyone in guys but as I have said before, I would rather wait for the right guy.

Come on Rovers.

I think we all would of liked another right midfielder but it didnt happen. Brett, Carlos and Matty can play there. As can Reid. Lets not beat oursleves up about it. Back the boys.

I was hoping we were going to unveil Pennant, never mind come on Rovers!

Rumours abound that we have offered Alvaro Recoba a deal. If I hear anything concrete, ill put an article up!
BomBom
Mikey, Emo has had his chance there and failed, hes better as an attacking FB, Carlos is a left sided midfielder and Derbs is a striker and isnt exactly "effective" out wide. As for Reid.....rewatch the Hull and West Ham games mate with the blinkers OFF, he was and will continue to be SHOCKING!
BomBom
lol... alright Bommy, calm down. I am not Emo has not ahd his chance there. He has only played 2 games this season there and has been adequate if not spectacular. Carlos can adapt to play anywhere by the looks of things. Derbs has been effective out wide, it isnt his ideal position but he can play there. Reid hasnt been great so far but he will continue to play in the team and mostly out on the right wing as he has the attributes to fill the position.

I gotta say lads that the fact that we haven't bought a wide player doesn't overly concern me. It's the fact that we are so obviously strapped for cash that worries the hell outa me!!! Look at the teams who have spent this season, aside from the big four (or five with City)Middlesborough (Alves), Fulham(Johnson), Pompy(Defoe and Crouch), Everton(Leillani 15M), Villa on several players!! These teams are supposed to be in and around us but are spending double our budget!! We can only go on finding gems for so long before this catches up on us!! I'm not all for spending millions on average players but if we wanna remain a club looking at Europe then we gotta pull our fingers out!! Where is all the money?? TV rights, Prem money, Bentley Money?? Why do we never spend over 4mil on a player??? This season will be ok but i worry for us if this carries on, even *****y wanderers have spent more than us!!

Our wage bill is 85 percent of trunover... I guess this is where the majority of money goes.

Think the player was valdo. I am not to bothered about the lack of signing although it would have been nice to have been involved in the speculation and excitement last night. Keeping a fairly settled squad i think is more important than adding 6 or 7 players. When you look at the players signed by all the clubs with the exception of Robinho all the rest look to be fairly average players and i dont think that they will improve any team that drastically. It is important that we get some investment in the near future but if lack of money at the moment is ensuring that we have to bring some youth through then that can only be good for the club. It is about time some of these players were promoted to the senior squad

Very true del. Couldnt agree more mate.

we was borin on last day i was exeptin more :(
Lets Do The Samba
We normally are boring on the last day arent we??? Apart from that day in January where we signed Bentley on permanent deal, Sinama Pongolle and Olsson...
MikeyGamst
It would have been nice to have brought someone in, but I'm happy with what we have really and KEEPING what we had was more important than bringing in for me personally.

Best move of the summer - tying Santa down to a new deal!
MikeyGamst
I wont dispute that! Absolutely vital that we held on to him.
