Ince: Missed Chances Cost Us

Paul Ince suffered his first competitive defeat as Blackburn Rovers manager on Saturday after a 4-1 defeat against his former side West Ham United.

Callum Davenport and then an own goal from Christopher Samba gave West Ham an ideal start but Jason Roberts hit back immediately after the second Hammers goal. Matt Derbyshire harshly had a goal ruled out for offside and then Roberts saw a second half penalty saved by Robert Green before injury time goals from former Rover Craig Bellamy and Carlton Cole gave the scoreline a flattering look. However, despite the defeat Ince wasn't that disappointed but did rued missed chances.

Ince was quoted on Sky Sports as saying: "In the second half we were far the better side but we didn't take our chances.

"We're disappointed because there were a lot of situations where we felt we could have scored goals.

"We came out in the second half and really took the game to them and we had a chance of an equaliser from the penalty spot but it wasn't to be.

"There were two or three situations that would have changed the course of the game but we didn't capitalise on it and they scored late goals. That just sums up how the game went
."

There is a concern over Roque Santa Cruz though, with the Paraguayan picking up an Achilles injury, however, with the International break now on us he should be fit by the time this is over and Premier League action returns.

He added: "It's looking like the same injury that he picked up against Wolves a few weeks ago.

"It's a problem with his Achilles so he'll need a few days to a week to recover.

"You miss people like Roque, we use him as our main man and it's difficult to not let it affect the team.

"But Jason Roberts played well today and it's a shame he couldn't get more goals.
"

West Ham remains very much our bogey team, somebody up there REALLY doesn't like us when we play them do they!!! Santa at least has the International break to recover now doesn't he.

One question...where is Benni McCarthy?? He hasn't made the last 2 squads? Surely he's better than Derbyshire?
In MON we trust!
Benni, like it or not, isnt fit at the mo, and i dont mean hes unfit but he isnt in footballing shape. plus his head is still up his arse about not being able to leave! Personally, after the midweek showing by Charlie Newhouse, i wouldve liked to have seen him come on instead of Derbs

Ince needs to learn fast we didnt desrve to loose watched the entire game..but bringing on a non-international first division player when down having seen how well Villeneve played means FRIENDS MORE THAN TEAM..Ince get a life..one win doesnt make a season HUll GOT HAMMERED..

Calm down Oz, Carlos didnt get on as he isnt as fit as he should be and isnt really a central midfielder. Matty was so unlucky as there was no way in hell that goal was offside... bogey team strikes again!!!

In MON we trust... I def would prefer Matty over Benni... at least Matty scored at the weekend. Not his fault the linesman and ref cant see straight.
