Who Said Loyalty Was Dead!!!

Who Said Loyalty Was Dead!!!

We might live in a day and age when footballers rule the roost, with most of these prima donnas doing whatever they want when they want, but Roque Santa Cruz proved himself a credit to football last week.

The Paraguayan International has repeatedly said he was happy at Ewood Park yet this didn't stop the national media from repeatedly saying otherwise as they continue what feels like an almost constant all out attack on Rovers, the manager, the players and the fans!!! A week ago today Santa Cruz shocked potential suitors by confirming his intention to remain at Ewood and repay the faith Rovers and the fans have put in him by extending this contract, which NO MATTER what way you look at it means he isn't in a hurry to leave!!!

Contracts mean nothing these days (just ask David Bentley!) but Santa has restored my faith that there are still a few footballers that are prepared to honour these and will not have their heads turned at the first sign of reported interest from so called "bigger clubs" as being happy and settled where they are and content to play there part in helping achieve things where they are CAN be good enough for them.

Santa would have picked up a few extra pounds per week in signing this new deal but personally I believe that this is a minor detail for him (as he is a man of honour, integrity and dignity) and this signing of a contract was to ONCE AND FOR ALL declare "I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!!"

A gret article boss man!!! This kinda got all the snipers off ours and Incey's back!!! Here you have a world class playerv wanting to stay at a club because he is loyal to those who have done right by him and because he knows that we are going in the right direction!!! This tells all the idiots who were trying to relegate our beloved club before the start of the season that there is something worth staying for.....in the current climate this was our best signing since we signed him in the first place!!! Santa, you've just confirmed ur place with the Rovers Gods.....Shearer, Hendry, Flowers, Friedel, Ripley and now Santa Cruz!!!!!
