Blackburn Rovers are still to agree a deal with Robbie Fowler, and there is the chance this will not happen.
It is understood that Fowler rejected the initial pay-as-you-play contract on offer to him and he is looking to secure a longer-term deal, but Rovers manager Paul Ince still believes a deal can be agreed with the 33-year-old, but isn't in any hurry to rush a deal through as he doesn't see the need with him being a FREE agent. However, as a deal couldn't be stuck sooner he will miss the chance to have playing in our Carling Cup match with Grimsby, when he most probably would've featured.
Ince is quoted on Sky Sports as saying: "The situation with Robbie is still up in the air, so he won't be involved against Grimsby.
"These things do take time, especially when the agent gets involved.
"I'm not unsure about Robbie, I'm just unsure as to when it will get done.
"There is no deadline, though, because he is a free agent and not tied down to the transfer window."
The talk about the former England International brings us on nicely to the subject of our most recent poll, so here it is what it found out!
Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll, suggested by govtpros asked "The Jury is still out on Robbie Fowler.... What's your feelings?" We want to give him a chance.
Plenty of people have written off Fowler, with many disgusted at the mere thought that Paul Ince had even contemplated the thought of signing him but we could do worst couldn't we, and should at least give him a chance before writing him off?!?! Almost half, 46% in fact are prepared to do this, as they know that players in the past have played on to an older age and delivered, so although he might have lost his sharpness his ability to know where the goal is wouldn't have left him. 21% don't really care, with a further 13% willing to back Ince's judgement.
Amazingly 8% feel so strongly about not wanting Fowler to sign that they claim they wouldn't step foot inside Ewood Park until he left again!!! But all in all I think it's clear we're prepared to give him the go.
So in summary
A top quality goal scorer, definite starter? - 3%
Only 33, 4th highest prem scorer - 6%
Gonna give him a chance, Hughesy did ok at 37?! - 46%
If he signs I'm not going to clap if he scores? - 3%
I'm not stepping foot in Ewood til he's gone! - 8%
Not bothered either way! - 21%
I trust the Guv implicitly?? - 13%
The current poll, suggested by Lets Do The Samba is asking, "Who will be the star of the season?"
