Ince: It Was A Great Achievement

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince kicked off his Ewood Park reign with a superb 3-2 win at Everton on Saturday afternoon as we started out Premier League season in style.

Ince was thrilled to kick off his reign with a win as Rovers came from behind to win score a dramatic winner through Andre Ooijer four minutes into injury time. David Dunn gave us the lead, only for Mikel Arteta to equalise before Yakubu gave Everton the lead. Roque Santa Cruz, then the dramatic winner saw us off to a flyer, much to Incey's delight!!!

Ince told Sky Sports: "We have won at Everton and not many teams do that apart from the top four. It was a great achievement.

"The whole performance was fantastic, to come from behind twice and win was outstanding. I would have settled for a point at one stage.

"That was very good stuff, I am very pleased with the win.

"In the first half we were the better team and controlled the game, and we should have been two or three up.

"Then they hit us with an equaliser that really killed us, it affected the way we started the second period.

"But once they got the second goal it seemed to lift us. We were level straight away and kept going right to the end.

"The whole performance was fantastic, to come from behind twice and win was outstanding.
"

However, Incey STILL had to fend off question about the futures of several star names at Ewood, but again responded by stressing that NO ONE else will be leaving Rovers.

He added: "This has been going on and on - about Santa Cruz and other people.

"The more you keep on about it the more it unsettles what we are trying to achieve. I do not want to keep saying this, but nobody is going to be leaving the club.

"We want to keep our best players, be it Santa Cruz, Warnock or McCarthy and any one of a dozen players.

"Let's dispel all this. No-one is leaving the club, we have had a really good start in this game.
"

GREAT RESULT..dominant in first half but would have prefered VOGEL in midfield as Everton were very understrength..bad goalkeeping hopefully will improve..4 centre halves starting??hope the results keep coming so sad people can stick 2 fingers up at peoples opininons..

I think Vogel maybe injured or not match fit yet as he wasn't even on the bench...

Did not see any sign of the disharmony between the players and Ince. He nearly pulled Pedersens head off celebrating and every player got a pat on the back on the way of the pitch. Surely if the players were p****d off at the boss then they would not have put in that amount of effort on the pitch
del
spot on buddy, this whole talk of disharmony was just media speculation. They all have a vendetta against us, why!!! maybe because we are the perennial underachievers....stuff the media...ROVERS for LIFE
sasman
COME ON!!! The only talking we needed to do was on the pitch and as football365 says - the statement was as deserved as it was deafening!!! Excellent stuff. Big up to the Axe as well who had a blinder.

spinaker...good spot. I read that and wondered what he was on about. Perhaps it was the euphoria of the win clouding his speech! Still, some great comments by Ince and I'm pleased for him. Jury is still out but a great start. We have to build on it now at Ewood.
roversman
I told you guys that Ince would surprise us all
