'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Come on boys and girls lets not do a Burnley!!!!!!

I'm at a loss to know what the great problem with Robbie Fowler is?

I believe he is still the 4th highest goal scorer in the Premier League? (So he knows where the goal is)! He is only 33? Hughesy was I believe 37? (Playing days)?

Vastly experienced? (Good for the younger strikers)! Cannot possibly demand a big wage? (He's a free agent)!

Could be a last ditch effort player to throw on the pitch bearing in mind you can now use 5 substitutes? (As I said he obviously knows where the goal is)!

Hughesy although well credited with his successful signings did have a few bad ones, but we as True Fans gave him/them a chance before the season had even started. What is going on? Are we turning our backs like BURNLEY would??? (No wonder players are speculated wanting to leave)?

Robbie's career stats

League Cup

So I ask the question to those who's opinions are stated below;

Apart from he sniffs goal lines and he's a scouser?! What are the genuine reasons why he should be getting the stick he's getting or is it just easier to agree with everyone else?

COMMENTS TAKEN FROM Lancashire evening Telegraph. 14th Aug 08

'Better not be Andrews or Fowler!'

'i hope to god it aint andrews or nobbie'

'Long term target doesn't mean its Fowler as he's been training with us, so he aint a target'

'Please, please, please don't be Andrews from MK Dons. If so his signings would read: you tube, brother of santa, utd loanee, White line Blobby Fowler and a 28 yr old released by Hull previously!'

'we all no that fowler is on trial. so he wont be the fifth signing,, will he'??

Another superb read govtpros. Fowler was a surprise to me, but I've been saying I think he'd make a good signing. Quality and experience for nothing (more than wages) can't be scoffed at can it? Derbs and co could learn, Benni MIGHT even learn a thing about how to conduct himself LOL! You get seven substitutes now don't you (still only three on though dude) so more reason to take this punt. Nothing to lose deal really isn't it?!?!
WALKER please its nice to have FACTS so here are a few you missed from 1993 -2001 he scored 120 after leaving liverpool at leeds scored 14 2001-2003 then at City 2003-2006 he scored 20 goals back to liverpool 2006-2007 8 goals and last season in the CHAMIPIONSHIP 4 goals like I stated FANTASTIC in his day sadly these stats do also give a better picture and ALSO these include goals from all competitions..
The other reason he gets stick is it isnt very professional of a manager to bring a FRIEND and not even care to know that he already has 4 quality strickers sadly one of them now wont even be on the becnch as I rate all our top 4 above this Robbie Fowler
Great point OZ i'm with u all the way with this one!!! Keep Gally n lose Fowler who wants a one year meal ticket!!!!
guys! he's past it - accpet it.
decent article, but you are wrong on the substitute bit, u can have 7 subs but only field 3 not 5
I'm with Oz on this one 100% as he is past it hasn't looked good in years, people can tell me about injuries that he has had sorted but at 33 and having had a persistant injury for quite some time he is past it and they will take their toll. Add to that the fact that as Oz quite rightky points out we have four other strikers who are better abd longer term that Fowler. So as much as he was a great player, I fear the amount of time and energy that has been used on Fowler could have been better used elsewhere.
durks de rover
I dont see what the problem is. Robbie is only 33 so he is not ready to retire just yet. When he does i think Ince will move him on to coaching our strikers and if he can coach as well as he could finish then this could be a fantastic signing for the club. So if we have to have him on the playing staff for a few years first then thats fine by me because to have one of the best finishers ever to play the game as a striker coach cannot be a bad thing
How about you give him a chance... If it works you'll be the first chanting his name! If it doesn't then, Well it doesn't????
PS sorry about the error, interesting how you've picked up on that but not any strong evidence why not to have him on the bench? With 7 subs to choose from Gally and co will be there too.. the only real comment against him was about Fowler being a friend of Ince? Not sure about you but I tend not to EVER let my friends down?????
I dont mind him too much myself but I dont see why we are losing Gally and signing Fowler... would prefer Gally.
