Nikola Zigic Wanted By Rovers?

Nikola Zigic Wanted By Rovers?

Stoke City want to sign Nikola Zigic from Valencia, but the Spanish clubs Vice-President has said that another Premier League club is interested in making a late move for him, and this club is understood to be Blackburn Rovers.

Premier League new boys Stoke looked as though they would be getting the giant Serbian striker but amid reports of further interest from the Premier League he isn't so sure about moving to the Britannia Stadium now. However, the approach that Rovers are understood to have made (if it is Rovers?) is for a season-long loan with the view to a permanent signing, something that Valencia aren't that interested in.

Fernando Gomez told "We were looking at a quick sale but now the situation has changed.

"It is true another English club has asked about the player, but Valencia wants a sale and not a loan.

Personally I don't think that we need him and if Galatasaray are also interested in him (as is understood) then I'd be happy to see him go there instead (that should also rule our Benni McCarthy going to Turkey as well!!!)

We don't need him, let him go to Stoke or better still Turkey!!!

Unless we are actively looking to sell one of the current strikers I dont see the point myself....
13/08/2008 20:10:00
If we get him maybe we'll not sign Fowler
13/08/2008 20:10:00
I think this could be the signing to potentially ease RSC moving on. I still don't think Roque will leave but can't see why we would sign a player just like him? Why do we seem to be targeting the majority of Hughes' targets also? Tired scouting? Or is it tired journalism?

I think the fact that Ince feels he is behind in the transfer market means he is probably using the groundwork put in by Sparky also the fact that there really isn't that many players out there that would improve our first eleven that we can afford

I think that Zigic was maybe being lined up as a loan sub striker for a yr, something different and why not! Im still not re-convinced about Benni - i know he has the ability to outscore even Roque but will HE think that this season? As for Roque, no offense lads but someone who stuck it out with sitting on the Bayern bench ( if even ) for yrs would leave a club where he is successful and an instant impact, especailly for a club like City where no-one has a clue wot is happening! Roberts has to stay fit this seasonm to prove that he can score double figure goals with Rovers and Derbyshire is just a class wee act, simple!

Strikers I am happy with. The only one I would accept leaving is Benni but only if a good replacement came in.
14/08/2008 14:01:00
I can tell you boys that Zigic has only been lined up because Benni came back to pre-season well overweight.......This is prob the reason why Derbyshire and Roberts have been used more in the past few matches and why we're still considering Fowler!!!! My opinion is to get rid of Mcarthey....the guy is never gonna perform for us the way he did do....he's not intereted in playing for us!!! Cant believe that he had the balls to come out n say that he didn't play well last year because his head had been turned!!! "WELL GIVE US UR FFFIN WAGES BACK FROM LAST YEAR THEN U CHEEKY ****!!!!!!!!!" Then we reward??? him for his lack of effort with a new contract n he promises to come back fighting before returning a stone overweight....i dont care how good he can be, get rid now before he poisons the rest of the squad with his attitude!!!
15/08/2008 08:29:00
PLEASE MANNI less of that he was turned down by his national team to play in the African nations league it can affect any player..he is still very good lets see what Ince gets out of him
15/08/2008 16:18:00
Fair enough OZ i can give him a chance........but i dont wanna stomach another season of lazy, **** performances from him.....only for him to admit his wrong doing at the end of the season when he's drawn a handsome wage!!!! If they were payin me £30.000 a week i'd sweat blood for em!!!!
