Ince: No More Rovers Departures

Ince: No More Rovers Departures

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has said that there will be no more departures from Ewood Park this summer.

Brad Friedel has left for Aston Villa with David Bentley going to Tottenham Hotspur, but that will be the lot according to Ince, despite the speculation linking others (including Benni McCarthy, Stephen Warnock and Roque Santa) with moves away from Ewood.

Ince told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "The door is shut now.

"The players can't go, full stop. Clubs are trying to unsettle some of my players.

"I don't like it. It's my first job in the Premier League and the last thing I want to do is sell my best players.

"Benni is definitely one of them and there's plenty more. As far as I'm concerned, the situation is closed.

"There's always going to be speculation about players, but I can categorically say, 100 per cent, that nobody will be leaving this club
."

Hopefully this WILL prove the case, however, the national media are BOUND to continue to say otherwise!!!

Meanwhile Paul Gallagher has turned down the chance of a loan spell with Norwegian club Viking Stavanger.

Former Rovers striker Egil Ostenstad (who is now the Sports Director at Viking) has claimed an interest in Gallagher but the Scot wasn't prepared to uproot his family to go to Norway for the season, but could still be sent out on loan YET AGAIN to a club closer to home.

Ostenstad told Aftenbladet: "We are looking at various options.

"Some have been known in the media, others not so well known.

"Blackburn were willing to loan out Paul Gallagher. But the player himself wanted to stay in England.

"Thus the option fell through
."

We MUST keep the everyone one, selling others WILL see us move backwards and will back up what everyone else is saying about us, that we will struggle this season etc. (which we try not to listen too!!!) As for Gally how many more loans can he go on before he finally leaves for good?!?!

Ince has said he would like 2 at least in before the end of the window. We are heading in the right direction as long as we dont sell...

If Ince says no one else is leaving then I believe him - our board have always said that we don't need to sell, so there is no pressure on him in that respect.

I ahve no idea where the press get off constantly linking are better players to clubs who finished below us in the league last yr and quite possibly a couple before that!!!! Bentley supposedly left for his "boy-hood hero's" after no big clubs came in for him - i mean top 4 b4 anyone gets shirty about it - and no offense we got £2.5m for a 38yr player! I know it was Brad but we were going to have to replace him soon, he got an amazing offer from Villa so he was good to go, i think people seem to forget we have replaced him with a very good keeper, 10yrs younger, who could be Englands No1 again! We have not really replaced Bentley yet, but Emerton has a great cross on him and we have been linked with Larsson and Pennent, both good players. We have also signed one of the supposed talents from S America in Villaneuva. I for one, although biased, do not think that Rovers are in the disaray that the press would have folk believe, def top 10 this season and i cant see why we couldnt match or do better than last yrs 7th

Nicely put, Clint. I was a bit skeptical earlier with Hughes leaving and the press rumours, but really, if you ignore the press, we've got a pretty settled squad, with some very talented players coming through - Derbyshire, Vilaneuva, etc, to put alot of pressure on them and make sure they perform. I agree that selling Friedel was a good move, and lately Ince seems to be making all the right noises...so here's to the coming season - can't wait. GO BR!

If you listen to anyone in the squad they are happy with the atmosphere at Blackburn and the training ground. Its all media cr*p. I am happy with Emo on right wing but feel we could do with Larrson just to play it safe.

The only one i could happily lose is Mcarthey!!! He's not interested any more and more than likely the player who's stirrin it all up....if we did lose him then we'd have time to find a perfect replacement because i think Derbs will make his breakthrough this year..
