Santa Cruz At The Double!!!

Blackburn Rovers have brought Roque Santa Cruz's younger brother Julio Santa Cruz to Ewood Park to join him.

Julio (a striker like his older brother) is 18-years-old and has signed a three-year contract with Rovers after undergoing successful trials at the end of last season and during this summer. Julio is expected to be a part of the Reserve Team this season, with him very happy to be joining his brother at Ewood.

Julio Santa Cruz told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "I am very happy to be here at Blackburn, it will be an amazing adventure for me."

Roque Santa Cruz has confirmed that he WILL be staying with Rovers this season having been heavily linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City. However, despite reports to the contrary the Paraguayan insists that he isn't staying because we have signed his younger brother.

Roque Said: "The fact that it has all come together now is nothing to do with me staying here.

"But to have family over here gives you a better feeling because you don't feel so far away from Paraguay.
"

Even IF signing Roque's brother has made him stay I'm happy enough to see this!!!

Hopefully all the rumours about Roque (although they won't go away!) can be completely ignored now without fear. If signing Julio is a stunt to keep Roque (however, personally I don't think it is!) am I really that concerned!!! If Julio can be half the player his brother is then we have a superb talent for the future, maybe one day they will play alongside one anther?!?!

When has there be any doubt about Roque's future? He is staying at Blackburn untill he is kicked off. And about Julio, well he sure is talented..maybe is not powerful as Roque, since he is still very young. He has played for Paraguay Under 17 and Under 20 teams.

and there was I thinking Xmas only comes once!

Well i have a feeling this might be to keep Roque, he hasn't played for many clubs and was a FREE AGENT!!!! so even the south american clubs didn't want him.

A master stroke if it keeps Santa Snr at the club!!! Lets see what happens eh??

If little Santa is as good as his brother our strike force for the future looks set! Maybe he'll be 'Santa's little helper'... Ho-Ho!

Roverjoy: He was indeed a free agent, but the reason he did the trials at Blackburn in the first place, was because he wanted to be in Europe near Roque, is not that he is not wanted in South America...you have ot give Julio some time and he'll be someone talk about

shrewd business to keep big bro, or genuine talent??
BaldyYid
smart business, well done rovers

You have to believe that this guy was signed in order to persuade Roque to stay, I'll be surprised if he is half as good as his brother.

LETS ALL HOPE HIS BROTHER TURNS OUT JUST AS GOOD..

Santa Cruz could be Your main man this season and who knows what could happen if you get a good run going.....

Who cares if we have bought Julio to appease Roque!?!? Its worth it... And your right OZ, if he does turn out to be just as good then we are on to somet.
