Bentley On The Verge Of Completing Spurs Move

Bentley On The Verge Of Completing Spurs Move

Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley will FINALLY complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur within the next 24-hours.

With previous bids placed for the England International by Aston Villa and Tottenham, all of which were rejected Spurs have returned with an acceptable one, which is understood to be close to £18 million (although this has been undisclosed, and will probably remain that way!) Bentley has undergone a successful medical with Spurs and most probably agreed terms and the understanding is he will be unveiled at a press conference that has been arranged for Thursday morning.

Rovers will be receiving a sizable amount from Spurs, however, a percentage of this money received will have to be given to Arsenal in accordance to the agreement that saw Bents to Ewood Park in the first place. Quite how much this will be is not known. The rest will hopefully be given to Paul Ince to ensure that we can maintain our challenge for a UEFA Cup spot this season, which should still be the aim despite the loss of Bents and Brad Friedel.

I will be glad when this deal is finally confirmed as it has dragged on for FAR to long. I appreciate all that Bents has done for us during his time here but he leaves with me more than a little disappointed at the lack of loyalty that he has shown Rovers after ALL the support and backing that we have given him. The day was always likely to come when he left Ewood, but with all due respect to Spurs (and I'm not looking for this "we're bigger and better than you" debate with Spurs fans) this move isn't the sort of move that I expected him to make when deciding that the time was right to leave us, as in reality he isn't really making that much of a step forward, some might argue he isn't making a step forward at all!!! However, we will receive good money for him, now he has to prove at White Hart Lane that he was worth it.

Glad he will be gone get on with the real team, and other transfer targets. Shame about the sell on clause but if we get £17mill, and get 10 from that still quite good.

Santa Cruz won't be sold but the rest wanted out and with the exception of Friedel saw us as a stepping stone so in my mind they can ***** right off, they will learn the grass is not greener but it will be too late.

Lol at mani and his misplaced bitterness at a former idol. I think you wil see him more starts than not in our shirt mate. Dont worry, as you know...he's quality. ; )

Well he is finally gone and for 15 million. Thats 14million profit in 2 years so it softens the blow a bit. Pity about the gunners slice but with the money we get then i am sure we can get an able replacement. With no more players leaving and with a few quality additions then there hasn't been that much upheaval in the squad and i think we will be in the mix for europe next season. Cant say the same about spurs. With all the players in and out the doors there, no matter how good they are it will take a while for them to gel. Whats Bents going to do next year if they haven't qualified for europe and we have. JUSTICE

archer he is the best crosser of a ball in the premiership. He has the fourth best assist record over the last 2 seasons. There is no doubt about it. You are getting a great player but he has a tendency to try to do too much and beat one player too many plus he is not too anxious to track back. Honestly for the money involved i think rovers got the best side of the bargain. I think your outstanding player this season could be De Santos. He looks a class act

he was great for us last season actually!... and to do with that tracking back question. the difference Bentley had at Ewood which he won't have at Tottenham is Brett Emerton with plenty of pace coming forward and creating moves for Bentley and dropping back into right back so Bents could get forward. good luck getting that at Tottenham Bentley. i can see this being a right kick in the arse of a move for Bentley as there's too much competition at Spurs as mentioned before. we stick by him and sing ''Bentley for England'' whilst the country is booing him and we get a whinge about our lack of ambition and him leaving us for a team who finished 4 places below us. cheers Bentley. and this isn't bitterness at him leaving because i'm gonna give Friedel a hero's welcome next season.
