Duff As Makeweight For Warnock

The newspapers turn up all sorts of weird and wonderful things during the transfer windows, and now they have turned up a new transfer rumour that would see a Rovers legend return to Ewood Park, as long as we let Stephen Warnock go!!!

Newcastle United have already had an (insulting!!!) offer turned down for England International Warnock, with it understood they have upped this offer since but still this wasn't enough to make us even remotely tempted to sell the left-back, which we're not anyway (nor is he wanting to leave!) Now the thinking of the newspapers is that Kevin Keegan could be prepared to offer Damien Duff a Rovers return, allowing the winger to return to where it all began for him as a teen in a straight swap for Stevie W.

The injury problems that the Republic of Ireland International has had since leaving Ewood for a £17 million move to Chelsea in 2003, and even more so since moving to St James' Park in 2006 would make him a liability and I wouldn't want this to happen, nor do I believe it will as have the newspapers not forgotten that we have Morten Gamst Pedersen (inconsistent or not), Sergio Peter and Keith Tracey as left-wing options!!! So we are hardly lacking quality there.

Where do they think up these ideas?!?! Duff has legendary status at Ewood Park, but I would personally be VERY surprised if he returned and even more so if this was at the expense of Stevie W who has said more than once that he is very happy with Rovers.

I don't believe this one.

Jesus- what a bad idea. Either they think we're stupid or they are: There are simply no LB for sale in England....Besides Warnock has been a revelation since joining...
IsraeliRover
Bad news: Tottenham've just received 20M for Keane. Hope they wont rush to buy Bents...

Shorey would do if it happens but straight cash for Warnock I don't want my memories of Duffer ruined by a return, to our treatment room. But I bet the idea of him coming back appeals to some at the club.
MajiRovers
Yer Duff could be good look at Dunn, but not for Warnock, he is one of the best full backs in the league.

I would accept Duff back at the club for sure... but NOT at the expense of Warnock.

Newcastle must assume that Rovers have their heads painted on, offering Duff for a left back, where is the thinking there?? WE dont ahve another leftbac other than the largely untried Olsson and Nolan ( think i got the rite one there ) so it cant happen. Newcastle have a left back in that Spaniard, so will be looking back up to him, Warnock would be stupid to move from us on that basis

This is a no go!!! I do think that 90% of these stories are pure speculation....don't sell any more of the first 11 now!!!!! We need to dig in and add to our recent success'.
mani13963
but wouldn't Duff fit in for Bentley?
merlin
I don't think Duff would come back as he'd have to take a massive pay-cut as we couldn't afford his wages! Also why would we want to sell one of our up and coming stars in WarnocK who wants to play for us? All media tripe!
FreidelNo.1
He wouldnt Merlin no, wrong side of the pitch! And mani is right. No more first X1 players leaving... we need to consolidate now.
MikeyGamst
Duff is a natural left sided player but he can and has played on the right wing for Chelsea, Newcastle and Ireland on occassions and did well. I would'nt be opposed to him returning to Blackburn, but not as a makeweight in a deal for Warnock. Not convinced by Pennant at all, he's a big gamble.
