Robinson To Sign For Rovers Today???

Blackburn Rovers will complete the signing of Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson today, according to newspaper reports.

These reports understand that Robinson will be coming to the club today to finalise personal terms and have a medical ahead of a £3.5 million switch from Tottenham, with it also understood that their shouldn't be any late problems to put the deal for the England International at risk. David Bentley's move to White Hart Lane should reach a conclusion as well soon, hopefully!!!

Once the Robinson deal is sorted out Brad Friedel will finalise his move to Aston Villa, so both moves MIGHT be completed by the end of Friday, however, the end of the weekend could be a more realistic time frame?!?!

I just want to get this deal done now, bring in Robinson and let Brad go, as sad as I will be to see him leave.

It will be sad to see Brad go, but it was coming sooner rather than later with him, so its best to get it done now, start the new era! And lets face it we'll have a new celeb fan in Chris Moyles lol isnt he and Robinson good mates?!?!?
Clint
Confidence is what Robinson is lacking, if he can get this back he will again be the VERY good goalkeeper that he was for Tottenham and England. The move will do him good.
Walker
Welcome Robbo I'm sure you'll do well with Steele guiding you again, I just wish you were coming under different circumstances!

Spurs fan here. Please don't bite. Although I'm sure this sorts all parties (Robbo wants to leave as he's not getting first team football, Bentley for whatever reason also wants to leave, and as we are seeing with Berbatov and Carrick before him, it's no use having someone in your team who doesn't want to play for you) I can't help thinking that you guys are getting the better deal here money-wise. Decent goalkeepers (which is what he is – decent. Not world class, but decent enough), especially English ones, are hard to come by, yet we're letting him go for £3.5m in the arguably his prime age, yet right wingers are all over the place and here we are signing one for £18m if the rumours are to be believed, even though we have Lennon who could become as good. I know Bentley's good, but really? £18m? What do Rovers fans think about this? Are you guys laughing and pointing at us secretly behind our backs?
Fat Dan
Yeah £18million is a lot, but Spurs have rose the price of English players and players in general, for example Darren Bent transfer, for around that price. So really Spurs just have themselves to blame. With the current market prices Bentley is worth selling on that figure has he still has 3 years to go on contract and can only get better really.

How have 23% of fans voted us relegation fodder, surely this must be other fans?? I have my doubts over Ince's abilities but we still have the same squad (at the moment) and even with Bents going (who will be replaced), how does that suddenly make us so bad??
Wellsy
Robinson has signed this evening!!! Well happy with the news. Not taking anything away from Brad who has been absolutely awesome but he's 37 and only one injury away from the end of his career.....i have no doubts about Robinson who is better than "decent" written by the Spurs fan above. He displaced David James and was the most solid, trustworthy keeper in the league until he realised that Spurs didn't believe in him!!! I know that he will be fine with us. As for the 23% relegation shout - I don't think this will happen and it's probabley just a knee jerk reaction to the changes. Keep the faith!!

PS the 23% who believe we will be relegated are prob as numb as the 9% who think we'll be champions!!!!!! ha ha

If Robbo recovers his form you'll have a solid keeper in the prime of his career. It's a good move.

All the best to Robbo at Blackburn. Myself and probably most Spurs fans will be sad to see him go, but unfortunately, a change in scenery is the only thing that will revive his confidence. When that happens, you will have the England No 1 in your colours, no doubt a great keeper. Wish him well........

I still see this as a good move for us financially. Replacing a 37 year old keeper with a 28 year old for a net loss of £1 million. Blackburn is a business as well as a football club and that represents good business acumen.
