Brett Agrees 4 Year Deal

Brett Emerton has agreed a new long-term contract with Blackburn Rovers, the new deal will keep him at Ewood Park until summer 2012.

Emerton has been with the club since 2003 and despite making a tepid start in his first year has turned into an excellent, versatile player for the blue and white halves.

And now a new four year deal shows that new manager Paul Ince sees Sasman's favourite player as an important part of his plans.

Emerton could be shifted up into the right midfield spot this season after his crossing was found to be actually rather good and his apce and fitness is still excellent.

Rovers' chairman, John Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph: 'This is great news for the club.

'Brett has been an excellent servant over the last five years and we are delighted to have agreed a deal which keeps him here for another four years.

'He's a very willing member of the squad and a real club man.'

Good lad Brett and Sasman's birthday has come early this year.

This is good to hear - Brett had a good season last year and I hope he does again each year for the next four! I know sasman will be happy!

I think we can all agree this is a good move. Brett has turned into one of the most consistent members of the squad.

Great news, beat me to it Mikey, well reported, fantastic for the club, Mr Versatile, Mr 90 Minutes, Mr Football, on ya emo
sasman
Since when was he called any of those things Sas!?!? or have you just made that up?!?!
MikeyGamst
Very good news. Yet, we need a true RB as well
IsraeliRover
Great to see him comitting to Rovers, gradulaly more and more people are doing this. But I do agree we DO still need a recognised right-back.
Walker
Yes congrats emo, Now all we need to do is figure out where your best position is!
MajiRovers
We def need an established right back but we also need Emo as he can provide an excellent option at right back and right midfield, as well as filling in the middle as well. he is better in his third chocie position than some players are in their first.
MikeyGamst
hey hey, emo has been all three of those, thats what he is renowned for down under, can play everywhere, good on him
sasman
Mr.Football??? is he secretly Pele old Emo??!!!
MikeyGamst
Mikey i agree whole heartedly with u, I would like to see Emerton used more in the middle, cos his pace aint the great for a rite winger, he's no slouch though and his crossing his good , but his stint at rite back has tightened up his tackling, added to his good passing, why not in the middle. I really like the way he goes about his buisness in a quiet manner, playing good football and committing to a club that has given the chance to earn a good wage and play some good football, If only more Premier League players were like him, ah well! lol
Clint
At least someone is staying.
