ONLY An Improvement Will Do For Warnock!

Blackburn Rovers left-back Stephen Warnock is looking for an improvement on last seasons Premier League finish of seventh this time round, and if we don't achieve this he WON'T be happy.

Newcastle United had an insulting offer of 2 million rejected for the England International (which he now is!) last week, and Warnock seems to be showing no signs of wanting to leave Ewood Park anyway as he has followed up comments made earlier in the summer about his willingness to want to stay with Rovers with further comments praising the club and how Paul Ince is the man to continue the work Mark Hughes started. However, although he was pleased with last season's seventh place he feels that COULD have been better, and is looking for improvement this time round.

Warnock told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "We are a club that is moving forward and we are all looking forward to the new era under the new manager.

"Last season, even though we finished seventh, it was still a bit of a disappointment to the lads as we feel that we can finish higher than that.

"So anything lower than seventh position again will be a disappointing season for us
."

Some players have made it clear that their futures lie away from Ewood, but as good as they are with quality players coming in to replace them added to the superb quality we already have there is no reason why Incey shouldn't be able to carry on where Hughes left of.

Good talk from Stevie W, this is what I personally want to hear, players aiming high, which is what we SHOULD be looking for. There's no reason why we shouldn't achieve this either even IF we lose Bradders and Bents, as much as we will miss them.

Like Stevie more and more.

Great call Stevie, only hope we show the ambition that u deserve n stop raisin my heart rate with words like "Robbie Fowler" and "Keith Andrews"!!!!

You'll do well to finish in the top 10 next season.
storagematt
great news, big fan of warnock, hope he leads by example
sasman
What if we got a bigger points total, but finished lower, say 9th/10th. Would that be classed as inprovement?
Decimus Poole
Not really decimus... its about relative positions. Take positions first. Great stuff from Mr.W, show your commitment to the cause.

storagematt - I think the MOTD pundits said we would finish 10th last season, glad they were wrong. I think we can do the same this season coming or improve on 7th. I think that a lot of teams are going to have to get off to a good start if they want to be successful. Also with so many teams in transition with players moving, managers starting etc it will be interesting to see how it all turns out. Who do you support?

I think he is a Pompey fan FN1. Should be a good season and prob one of the hardest ones to call. Should be a few suprises in store,
MikeyGamst
Let people write us off, we KEEP surprising them don't we. We know what we can do and that's all that matters.
Walker
People in my work have been telling me we are going down for about 5 years. Suprising people is what we do and we will continue to do so.
MikeyGamst
sorry lads but I think you'll struggle under Ince!
merlin
Heard it all before Melin....
MikeyGamst
Yeah dude tell us something we've NOT already heard. Lets just see how things go on the pitch, where the real talking takes place :)
