Rovers Agree Villanueva Deal As Castillo Joins Up

Blackburn have agreed a deal, subject to work permit completion for Chilean player of the year Carlos Villanueva, the deal is believed to be a loan deal which will be season long.

This could prove to be a good move by Paul Ince and something we need to cheer us up after the Brad Friedel news of earlier today. He is only 22 and has 12 caps to his name.

Villanueava can play in midfield and also in an advanced role up the field ala Dave Bentley.

Meanwhile, Equador's Segunda Castillo will link up with the Blackburn squad ahead of Monday's pre-season game with Hoffenheim in Germany, the rest of the squad have been there all week.

The Red Star Belgrade midfielder will finalise a move soon if reports are led to be believed with the fee in the region of £6 million.

this news pleases me...
Blacheburne
villanueva.... very happy about that news, the kid is talented, chilian player of the year!! i thought he was going to barcelona, but apparently not! wooo
whitey_82003
This is more like it. Castillo was linked with Juventes and villanueva with Barca. These are the callibre of player we should be signing. If we can get a replacement for Brad with the money we make from his transfer and bring in these two plus Andrews from the Dons then surely we have enough money left for a good right back. Stephen Kelly would be a good RB if we can get him. Defensively solid and good going forward and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. I would be very happy with our signings if we can get these players
del
Ryan Taylor lads, right back, we really should sign, as for these two, great job, hope they put pen to paper
sasman
His video's look impressive, it will take him time to settle though. He obviously has potential, lets just hope he can realise it at Rovers. Thumbs up on this one! I have read its a one year loan with first option, that is one hell of a deal!
MajiRovers
This Villanueva guy seems a very good player. He's a left winger though.. Not instead of Bentley for sure. Maybe instead of MGP? Sasman- Taylor is a very talented RB- but was injured for most of his career...I'd go for S. Kelly or K. Foley...
IsraeliRover
Israeli - He will play in the hole for sure, I read an interview with him and he says he will play with RSC. I do not see Ince replacing MGP. Taylor's a good shout he has potential but how much would he cost?
MajiRovers
Maji- I've only seen Villanueva on youtube- but I really can't see him playing in the middle in the PL- he's too small and weak. Reminds me of Messi. He's like those really speedy wingers who round slow defenders week in week out.
IsraeliRover
villanueva is an attacking central midfielder, he is left footed, but plays att mid! its the sort of player that we need, we only have decent central players but no1 who has flair to take the ball forward and finish off! this will be good signing, will take sum time to adjust to the prem tho!! right back?..... foley would be a good shout!
whitey_82003
The Pineapple will play in the hole, being 5,8 hardly made zola or even maradona too weak. I've said it before and I'll say it again we will play with 5 in the midfield this year the fact we are going to end up with another 3 Cm's surely confirms this. I can see Castillo and Vogel holding while Pineapple runs around in a free role.
MajiRovers
I don't know much (if anything to be totally honest!) about either player, but I'll wait and see what happens. We WOULDN'T be paying out good money if we weren't sure would we!!!
Walker
Done my homework on Vilanueva n this guy really does look something!! Castillo again comes with a pedigree so i can't complain......really worried about the Fowler, Friedel, Andrews saga!! Why is he called the "Pineapple"???
mani13963
searching in internet I found that he have this name "the pineapple" in spanish "el piña" because his hair one time was like a pineapple! that is all! , search more! guys! if someone found other things put here!
Motazo
I think we could be onto a winner with both these guys. We'll be fine lads, keep the faith.
MikeyGamst
Always!!!
mani13963
He's got a Pineapple on his head... altogether now...
MikeyGamst
carlos villanueva was going to REAL SOCIEDAD of spain, not to barcelona. i`m chilean too and i`m too happy about the new team of "cabeza de piña" villanueva, cause is a great player... best regards from chile! GO BLACKBURN!!
punx
PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrJg7Ax0RJs is a great gol of PIÑA VILLANUEVA...(playing with his friends)
punx
Lets hope he makes more of a mark than the original pineapple Jason Lee.
MajiRovers
Looks a skilful player - hope he does a good job for us
FreidelNo.1
