Ooijer Is Not For Sale

Ooijer Is Not For Sale

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams has made it clear that Dutch international Andre Ooijer is not going to be moving away from Ewood Park this summer.

This statement comes after increased speculation the Dutch International could be on the move to Panathanaikos.

Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: 'We've not received a written bid from Panathinaikos, but I've made it clear anyway that Andre isn't for sale.'

Ooijer has recently stated he may consider a move but the longer he hangs around in my eyes the better.... after a rough start in THAT game against Chelsea, he is arguably Blackburn's most consistent defender.

Yep - I like Ooijer. He is a good defender and he wants first team footie. He has been unfortunate with his leg-break, but I hope we keep him as his experience is invaluable.

Oojier showed in the Euros that hes a great reader of the game and a good centreback, although he a had a shaky start i think he can recreate that form, although he has the Wall and of course God to contend with, pity though cos he would def be a starter otherwise

On last seasons form, I would play him ahead of Samba.

I agree Decimus. I think that unless Samba has Ryan beside him then he looks very shaky. Andre definitely deserves his chance

Andre is as solid as a rock. He should get more of a chance next year. Same as young Mr.Derbyshire

It depends on whether Ince see's Samba as too error prone, especailly without Nelson there!! Oojier may be older but is a class act

Ooijer is a great CB. Unfortunately- we found him when he was already 30+. I really like the guy- but I'd cash in on him now instead of losing him in a years time for free. There are lots of great defenders in England whom we can buy: *Shittu, Sonko, DeMerit, Ingimarsson, Ridgewell etc.

But dude ALL of those players are Championship players, and sadly NOT good enough (and I'm not saying that as I think we're above Championship level, I'm saying this as they've been around long enough to have been playing for established sides by now!!!) I'd personally keep Ooijer, even if this means losing him on a FREE next summer. The benefits this season could be worth more than any transfer fee (and his wages saved) could bring.
