Winterburn Added To The Coaching Team

Winterburn Added To The Coaching Team

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has made YET ANOTHER appointment to his backroom staff with the appointment of Nigel Winterburn as Defensive Coach.

The legendary former Arsenal full-back was part of the famous Arsenal backline of the 1990's and early in the 2000's, which was regarded (and still is) as one of this countries best ever defensive units, so if he can instil the Rovers defence (which isn't that bad anyway!) to be anything like that Arsenal back four it would be superb.

Winterburn will be travelling with the squad to Germany on Wednesday for our pre-season Training Camp.

We have a good defence anyway, despite the errors last season (which were usually avoidable) but Winterburn should be able to make this even better!

Must say very happy with this winterburn has a wealth of knowledge to pass on, should be very benefical to the cause. If Samba can learn half of what he knows we''l have one of the top CB's in the game!

This is a great appointment. Winterburn was a model pro and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. I suspect that that is a big part of the reason we might bring Fowler to the club as well. So now we have one of the greatest english defenders, midfielders and strikers at the club which can only be beneficial to the players.

Good point there Del. Not to mention the knowledge and experience of Tugay in the midfield (not English, but still one of the best!). The coaching staff looks, on paper, pretty good...

I think he said we are "nearly there" so we could get one more?

Could it be 1-0 to the Rovers, as it was when Winterburn played for The Gooners
