Player Of The Season

With YOUR help Vital Blackburn has been trying to determine what have been the best and worst of the Blackburn Rovers 2007-2008 season.

The nominations have finished and the FINAL Award of the Vital Blackburn Awards for 2007-2008 is dished out with the PLAYER OF THE SEASON.

THE WINNER: ROQUE SANTA CRUZ.

When asked to simply leave the name of your Player of the Season most felt Roque Santa Cruz should be the Award Winner, so congratulations to Santa Cruz for picking up the highest accolade possible!

Santa EASILY picked up the Forward of the Season Award, and now he adds the Player of the Season to this as well, which came as a slight surprise but he was voted this as a clear winner as he gained almost three times as many votes as his nearest rival!!!

When Mark Hughes signed Santa last summer it was quite a transfer coup, but at the same time a few eyebrows were raised due to his injury problems in the past with Bayern Munich. It was hoped that he would come in and make an impact, but few expected him (me aside!!!) to make the impact that he did not only at Ewood Park but also on the English game altogether. His all-round performance is leading him to all sorts of speculation with it understood that Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and now Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in signing the Paraguayan International for around £15 million, but he has said he WILL stay at Ewood this season!!!

Special mention must be given to David Bentley as his consistency levels throughout the season see him maybe unlucky not to have defended this Title from the season before (at least not to have finished closer to Santa) and also to Brad Friedel (who got my vote), who is ALWAYS our unsung hero and doesn't get the full credit he deserves, and again could've been closer to the eventual winner, however, I'm not trying to take anything away from Roque Santa Cruz.

Thanks for voting on this, and ALL the other Awards this summer, the VBer End of Season Awards will be back again next summer!!!

Congratulations to Santa on winning this one, probably well deserved in the end, however, I still think Bradders didn't quite get the credit he deserved.

Pepople have spoken. Roque's year at Blackburn Rovers was amazing. Hopefully this year he can improve it and Rovers can get something better than 7th. position!

Brad never gets the correct amount of recognition! I think he is used to it now. Well done Santa.
