Williams Confirms Other Clubs Interest In Friedel

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel recently, and that might be away from Ewood Park, but Rovers chairman John Williams insists this won't be the case.

However, despite admitting there has been some interest in Friedel along with rumours that Rovers manager Paul Ince might be looking for a younger replacement and could be prepared to let him go Williams is adamant that Ince wants to keep Bradders at Ewood this season.

Williams said: "There is some interest but Paul Ince's wish is to start the season with Brad Friedel."

Aston Villa and Manchester City are the sides that are being mentioned in connection to the former American International, but it would be LUDICROUS to let one of the best goalkeepers in Europe go, and if he did go there would be uproar!!!

Incey would be getting of on the wrong foot IF he let Bradders go, which surely he won't!!!
Hughes Da Man
I'd be amazed if he went, especially after he's been so good for you lot!

If he does go I think he'd be off to Citeh and Sparky. Is he not 37 he cant play on forever.

Id be really shocked if bradders went.. the only team i can see him going to is man city with sparky and the only way id be happy with that is if we get Joe Hart as part of the deal.. hes got a few more years left in him.
marshinrover
as an american, friedel is one of the few native players i can really respect and be proud of. i hope he doesn't go for the mess of a club that man city is.

Tend to agree, it would be a silly move and at his time of career and having been so popular with the Rovers fans, why would he want to uproot his family etc?
The Fear
The best GK I've seen in my life besides Cech. However if he does leave I'd say we need a very good GK and not a mediocre one: Let's go for W. Hennessey or the (currently injured) H. Muller or even M. Murray...

Don't do it brad we love you long time, I hope he stays but the reported 8M or so over 3years is huge for his age!

He aint gonna go, I just cant see it. He loves the club and has turned down moves in the past that would have made him richer just to stay with us. Ince wants him and we all sure as hell want him to stay.
