Santa Missing As Rovers Return To Training

The majority of the Blackburn Rovers players returned for Pre-Season training today, but Roque Santa Cruz was a notable absentee!!!

However, FEAR NOT Santa was simply been given extra time off due to his summer schedule with Paraguay when he represented his country in their World Cup Qualifiers, including scoring in the Paraguayan win over Brazil, which leaves them topping their Qualification Group. The vast majority of the rest of the squad have returned, so we now know that the new season is NOT that far away at all!

Meanwhile there have been some rumours that Brad Friedel could go to Manchester City to link-up with Mark Hughes again, but they appear to have been silenced early on.

Rovers were recently linked with Chelsea Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini, and a swap deal involving cash plus Paul Robinson from Tottenham Hotspur for David Bentley had been mooted, with it claimed that Friedel would be allowed to leave if this happened, but Paul Ince would be a FOOL to let Bradders go, especially as he is still one of the best Goalkeepers in the World!!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone back in training soon, hopefully Santa's extended vacation will not become a permanent one!!! As far as letting Bradders goes goes, that would be CRAZY especially to bring in Paul Robinson as his replacement, who probably needs a move for his own career, but SHOULDN'T be at the expense of Bradders (and he won't!!!)

Didnt mention Reid and Dunn have been back early and been working for about 2 weeks on fitness already showing why we should keep them, that is good news to hear.

No need to mention it dude, as I wouldn't execpt any less from the pair of them :)

personally, i think its a really smart move giving santa the vacation. Not only does it give him rest from the international games he's been involved in, but it's also a way of keeping the press and even offers from teams to sign him at bay. Ince will not even listen to offers before assessing a player (who really needs to assess the quality of santa, anyway, he's brilliant!) and keeping him away for a while will not give any other teams a chance to come in for him. I don't think he wants to leave at all and i have a feeling he's actually excited about getting back and training. Considering his talent and the season he had last year, there really hasn't been THAT much speculation around him this summer, due in part to all the hype about the manager change and such. I'm definitely alright with that and hope that it continues, and I'm REALLY happy he's just kept his mouth shut about everything, unlike big-mouth bentley. I just hope that if more media does start to come his way, he doesn't let any of it get to him as Benni did when Chelsea rumors were surrounding him. But as for the santa situation, pretty sneaky if you ask me.

santa desereves a break, well done ince, as for freidel leaving? pfft no chance

Reid and Dunn showing the required commitment... good lads!!!! Santa will be at Rovers next year. Ince would be a fool to let him go, but Friedel will DEFINITELY be here. More paper rubbish anyone!?!?

Ince better not sell Brad!
FreidelNo.1
If Ince sells Brad I think it will be safe to say that he will be a disaster in charge at this club the one area we dont need to look at for now is in goal!!
durks de rover
I think you are both right guys. He has to be insane to sell Brad. He wouldnt want to leave anyway.
