Another Poll comes and goes. Here we are again and this time we have been debating David Bentley's destination for the forthcoming season.
There has been endless speculation regarding DB's proposed transfer from Rovers to destination unknown even before the last season closed out so over the last week, you lot have been voting on where Beckham's clone will end up playing next season.
Top of the pile with a sizeable chunk of the votes were Aston Villa with 37% (Has the Fear been multiple voting?? heh) Obviously the rumours of the Villains offering £15 Million for his services were duly noted (and, worth noting, allegedly rejected by Rovers)
Second on the list were our lovable friends from North London. No, not the Gooners, they didn't get ANY votes. No I mean the Spuds; Tottenham Hotspur, with 27% of the total votes. A self confessed Yid himself, DB obviously fancies a move back down South but with Ramos throwing money around his midfield already and the potential losses of Dimi and Keane, maybe the Spuds have more pressing concerns, nevertheless, this hasn't deterred you good folk from voting them 2nd, nor has this stopped all the hacks from constantly linking him to Tottenham either.
Surprisingly, for myself anyhow, was the 3rd placed club in the votes; Blackburn Rovers. There are at least some of you, 18% to be exact that still feel that Ince can persuade DB or even tell him to put his toys back in the pram as he is staying. This will all be unravelled by the end of the week in my opinion.
Then there was a big drop to 4th, with Man Utd getting 8% of the votes. With the Ronaldo saga yet to run its course, the current League Champs are not yet in a position to bid for a player they may or may not require but time will tell.
The full results are as follows
Man Utd 8%
Chelsea 0%
Arsenal 0%
Liverpool 5%
Tottenham 27%
Aston Villa 37%
Everton 3%
Man City 1%
Inter Milan 0%
Valencia 1%
Blackburn 18%
Other Club 0%
Interesting to note that Chelsea NOR Inter Milan have any votes, surprising in respect that Chelsea had been heavily linked with DB both last summer and earlier in this one. Obviously you good people feel that Scolari will want all his Portuguese wonders at the King's Road and that Mourinho has plenty of new play things to keep him amused in Italy.
Whatever happens, I personally will be glad to see the back of the speculation. As for David Bentley, it is sad to admit, as, after all, he has been Rovers Player of the Year for the last 2 consecutive seasons, however with all his posturing and pontificating, I could not care less if he is with us or not come the 2008/2009 season. All I care for now is that Rovers receive a hefty sum for his leaving.
A sad end to a club career at Rovers for a talented player that purely didn't know when to keep his mouth shut and started to believe the hype surrounding him.
Whatever becomes of him, I will wish him well and good luck but he could've gone on to better things after Rovers and left a much sweeter taste in the mouth's of Rovers fans.
OK, Next poll up is the BIGGIE
Its time to rename our Commander In Chief. As most of you may already know, Hughes Da Man, the VBer site editor needs to undertake a metamorphosis of such. Hughes has gone and he needs a new nickname.
He has graciously allowed us to participate in helping him select a new one. There will be 10 names in all and the leading vote getter by midnight on Thursday July 10th will be bestowed as HDM's new name.
So why are you still reading??? Get voting!!!!!
