Lennon The Key To Bentley Deal?

Tottenham Hotspur right-winger Aaron Lennon is being reported as the key to any possible transfer to White Hart Lane of David Bentley.

Bentley has signalled his intentions to leave Ewood Park this summer with Tottenham understood to be battling it out with Aston Villa for his signature. Spurs are understood to have been given permission to speak to Bents but as yet no fee has been agreed, but the newspaper suggestion is that Lennon plus cash will be the offer from Spurs, with Villa understood to have offered a straight up £15 million cash offer for the 21-year-old.

England International Bents is believed to prefer a return to London, so this benefits Spurs but if Lennon would be unwilling to come to Ewood as part of any deal this could put an end to it?!?! However, if the money offer from Spurs is right and Lennon is also offered then this is a deal we MUST take surely???

However, Paul Ince himself has ONCE AGAIN reiterated his desire to keep Bents at Ewood, and expects him back for Pre-Season training next week (Monday the 7th of July).

Ince told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We are obviously going to have to deal with a lot of speculation.

"But as far as I'm concerned, I want David here next season and I'm looking forward to seeing him on 7th July for pre-season training
."

Meanwhile another Spurs player is being mooted with a move to Ewood, with Paul Ince reported as being interested in want away striker Darren Bent.

How true these newspaper reports are isn't known, but with it reported that Ince has £20 million to spend this summer (which I find hard to believe) the claims are that he will offer £10 million of this to true and bring Bent to Lancashire?!?! I don't think we could afford half that amount let along £10 million, so if Incey is even interested in Bent him being used as a makeweight in the possible Bents switch to White Hart Lane would seem more feasible???

I personally feel that if Spurs offer Lennon plus cash (a decent amount) it shouldn't take us long to accept the deal and let Bents go. He wants out, so get rid of him and bring in a good player that has the potential to do what Bents can't (great pace and more trickery), and maybe (with work) even do the things that Bents does superbly (crossing and passing)?!?! As far as Darren Bent goes, I think this is just tabloid rubbish as we CAN'T afford £10 million, a swap deal maybe though?

bent, no way, lennon, i want bout 9 mill with him, we could strengthen our cm and a defender
sasman
bentley will be at spurs this week. and lennon will stay.....bentley is being brought in to provide competition for the right wing. this will bring the best out in both players.
lillywhites101
both decent, young and english, need them in different teams.
wimp2k7
who needs them in different teams???......spurs dont!

I quite like the idea of Bentley - at least he can cross a ball, free kicks and deffo scores more goals than Lennon. Lennon has been poor for 2 seasons (bar the odd cracking game). He has Pace yes, but every team we play just doubles up on him and he can't cope - plus he can't cross a ball for toffee! Beckham made a pretty good career for himself without having any pace or ability to go past a player! I think a swap deal plus cash is good business for both clubs. Oh and we have a young lad at WHL called Danny Rose - perfect understudy for Bentley next season!
comeonyouspurs
BENTLEY IS AN OVERATED PONCE LENNON WITH HARD WORK AND GOOD COACHING ON HOW TO DELIVER A GOOD CROSS WOULD BE WORTH ANOTHER SEASON HENCE SAVING £15,000,000 OR SO AND GET THE MAN OF STEEL IN FOR OUR MUCH NEEDED C / MIDFIELD I THOUGHT ZOKORA WAS GOING TO BE OUR MEKELE OF CHELSEA (OR WHATEVER THE SPELLING IS) BUT HE TURNED OUT A NANCY ! NOW WITH BIG TOM SIGNING A NEW CONTRACT MAYBE JUST MAYBE SOMEONE AT THE LANE COULD REALLY TOUGH TOM UP MORE (SAY DAVE MCKAY ) THEN NOBODY WOULD MESS WITH HIM ! KEEP BENT TRY AND KEEP KEANE TRY AND KEEP BERBATOV IF NOT ON THE BERBATOV FRONT GET ANDERSON IN EXCHANGE FROM MAN UTD ,THEN NISTLEROOY AND HUNTELAAR WOULD BE SENSATIONAL ! ROBINSON FOR HULSE THE KRUT FROM MIDDLESBORO HE AND WOODY HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING FROM THEIR DAYS AT M`BORO TOGETHER !! AND WITH BALE BACK ITS LIKE ANOTHER SIGNING !!
POP
I would rather cash than a exchange deal

you actually think United would let Anderson go??? as if! Ferguson has publicly said that Anderson has potential like he's never seen on such a young player. Anderson is a future Man Utd star and Berbatov is worth less than Anderson to Ferguson. i really want Bentley to leave as he will unsettle other players. i would love to see Lennon at Ewood but he does need to work on his crosses. at the moment, he's as out of form as Pedersen. hehe. i think we'll keep Roque and Samba, sell Bentley and bring in a new winger, some strength in defence like a natural right-back and a midfielder too to link up with Vogel who i think will be good next season.

I think it will be a 18m lump sum + 2m in clauses like after goals or league apearences.. Then if ince does actually want lennon we can put a bid in for him.. Id also like Giovani from manchester city, as he has been released he would be available in a free transfer.. Also for the CM id like Darren Fletcher for around 3m?

I'd take some cash, Lennon and Bents and call it a deal!!
Wellsy
Sorry, cash, Lennon and Bent!!!
Wellsy
Lennon, Bent will do for me, the Spuds can pay the diff in Bents wages since they want rid of him. We can then get rid of Roberts, and still have the cash for the RB and AMC we need.
MajiRovers
Lennon and cash for me... I say 10 million. I am not that fussed on Bent but it depends if we keep all our strikers or not.
MikeyGamst
has to be the deal for me that mikeygamst, how can rovers turn that down!
kendog
They wouldnt I dont think...
MikeyGamst
I would like the Lennon + cash option as well, though i think Ince should def follow the lead or O'Neill in stalling over any transfer, there is no way in this world that Barry is worth £18m but u have to hand it to Villa they are hanging on in there until they get it ( or at least as close as they can ) I think Rovers should adopt the same attitude, i know Bents wants to leave but heh, we launched his career, why we shouldnt Rovers benefit from his big headness!?!?!?
Clint
This should be the case if the gunners comse sniffing around after Cruz!! who if Berbatov is worth in the region of £25m then surely Cruz is similar?? We all know Wenger has got money so lets make him flash the cash!!! then we could go and buy Huntelaar from Ajax along woth a another few quality players
Clint
Wenger never pays over the odds he is a fair man and will offer what he thinks is a decent amount, the trouble is it may not be enough 10M does not appeal to me, but I suspect Santa would want to try his luck with them, which could create a problem if the situation arises. Taking Bent, if it does occur could work out McCarthy and Bent would be a good prem strikeforce, easily capable of getting 30 goals.
MajiRovers
Never pays over the odds??? Richard Wright? Franny Jeffers? I beg to differ mate.
MikeyGamst
Long time ago though, Mikey he's learnt since then. Its only because they flopped that they now in hindsite seem over priced. At the time they where two very promising youngsters. With Villa, Spud u like united and everton possible moving in we could get a,lovely little bidding war on the go!!! do i hear 20M????
