Ince To Take Stock, But Does Want To Sign

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has said that he is wanting to take stock of the current Rovers squad before deciding on his possible transfer targets.

Ince is understood to have a list of players that he is targeting, and although John Williams will be receiving this he has said that he is willing to look at the current squad when they return for Pre-Season training next week before deciding to make changes.

Ince told the Lancashire Telegraph: "It's important for me to take stock of the squad when the players return for pre-season training on 7th July, and then we can go from there.

"Obviously, I'd like to bring in one or two new acquisitions because that would help to freshen things up, which I feel is important.

"I've been making plenty of phone calls and following up various leads but, at this moment in time, there's nothing concrete to report
."

There aren't that many (if any) of the current squad that I'd be wanting Incey to get rid of, but we DEFINITELY need to add some players to our squad, if for nothing else but to keep those already at Ewood on their toes!!!

Unnecessary changes won't happen will they, but at least two new faces would be nice, and ARE needed. I just hope that Incey isn't looking at the lower leagues too much for inspiration, yeah there are players to be had but most (including the majority he has previously worked with) wouldn't make the grade.

I think this is good management by Ince - taking a look before making changes. It gives the players a chance to show him what they're about before he thinks about a replacement.

Now there's a new man, perhaps those that where in the comfort zone, will pull there fingers out.

Cough Morten cough.... I think 3 new additions of good quality is order of they day. Centre midfield, right back and a Bents replacement. I would be happy with that.

I agree with HDM. I hope he doesn't bring players from his former team. They were playing in league 2 for a reason, namely, not good enough for the Premiership. Granted there are those that have done well from lower leagues (Matty Derbyshire, a shining example...), but these players are rare.

hope matty derbyshire gets his chance again this season!

I am sure he will. New manager, fresh chance.

I dont think that Ince will bring in players from MK Dons, no offense intended but not sure they could make such a step up, Ince would know that, but then when u see some of the players some of the teams buy then i dont think a player from league 1 would be any worse!! Im sure the board had a few ideas and Ince himself would know contacts around the world, players will be offered to Rovers at any rate with the new manager. I would like to see a rite back, although i like Emerton there, we need Bentley cover - hopefully Lennon and not Penennt, another in central midfield and depending on Arsenal and Santa ( who i wouldnt blame if he fancied a crack at the gunners ) and possibly someone on the left, as Peter is not coming through and Pederson is getting complacent on that side
Clint
your dead right Clint no MK players are cming to Rovers, I do believe he will bring in a few loans as well this year, to bolster the squad. The trouble is at the moment none of us know how Ince will play, until we do our speculation is moot.

Worrying amount of lower league players being linked though!!!
