You Wanted Laudrup....Here's Ince!!!

The recent poll asked whether you would prefer Laudrup or 'the other guy' in reference to Ince. The result, which did not seem to deter Rovers Chairman John Williams, saw Laudrup a clear favourite with the VBer community to succeed Mark Hughes.

67% of you wanted Michael Laudrup whilst 33% of you wanted Ince.

Well a third of you will be very happy today, whilst two thirds wont be as happy.

My personal feeling is that Ince does not have the required skill set to take us that 'next step forward' that we seem to have been mentioning a lot of late and, in my eyes at least, has a lot to prove, starting immediately in attempting to keep Roque Santa Cruz et al at the club, strengthening the squad, assembling a back room staff good enough for the Premier League and making inroads on the youth system at Rovers which is failing in its attempts to produce first class footballers for Rovers.

The next poll up was suggested by VBer 'Kendog' (don't you do anything else besides suggest polls mate? LOL ;)) which asks 'Where Do you Think David Bentley Will Be Playing Next Season?'

Now, it gets interesting and I for one, am very anxious about this appointment.

I feel your pain mate, yes he has a lot to prove, but heres hoping he's up to the task. Gotta say he should move for cabanas at MEX cruz's best mate and strike partner for Paraguay. Your dead right in all that you've said, theres lots to be done at Rovers. on the poll wheres the option, for real madrid i thought thats where all the egotistical, right wingers go!! Or even Cerle Brugge thats where I'd send him!

Im not sure. He really does have a lot to prove, and apparantly he wants to bring the captain of MK dons over with him. Now dont get me wrong, who knows, but its not like the guy is just jumping up 1 division. Im really not sure bout this

We can thank our lucky stars it's not Big Sam or McClaren. The board listens to the fans in that sense! You have to give the man a chance. Hughes had no club management experience whatsoever before joining us, and he worked wonders. Ince has had some experience of mangement, and successful management at that, so I am going into the season with more optimism than I thought I would have. Obvioulsy, Laudrup would have been awesome, but his stayability track record isn't good...

Werent we saying the exact same thing about Hughes a few years back when he was hired?? it is a bold appointment for sure but its the RIGHT appointment.

I agree DP and Mikey - lets get fully behind Ince, back him to the hilt. He know how to run a club, he's young, ambitious and successful. There have been many successful managers who had little or no experience. Also Ince is taking over a good team of players and will be supported by a good chairman.

According to Tony Gale, the players at MK Dons think he is the best manager they have ever played under. I don;t care if it is at a lower level, thats speak volumes!
23/06/2008 10:50:00
That says it all
23/06/2008 11:11:00
Even if I cant spell!!! lol
23/06/2008 11:38:00
Errr, being a bit anal here but Hughes was Wales manager before he joined Rovers, slightly more of a higher level than Macclesfield and MK Dons!!! I am reserving judgement lads, its a positive appointment (we couldve had BSA or McClown) but its not a "Star studded" appointment that I felt we needed to make that next step.
