Shearer Prepared To Take Rovers Job?!?!

Blackburn Rovers legend Alan Shearer COULD be tempted by the prospect of returning to Ewood Park as the clubs next manager, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The local newspaper is reporting that Shearer (who is the hands down fans favourite to get the job) is understood to be prepared to listen to John Williams to find out what the clubs plans are for the future and he COULD be prepared to give up his punditry job with the BBC to return to Ewood, having left for Newcastle United in 1995 for £15 million when he was a player.

Williams, and the rest of the Board (who are understood to be very pleased with the names interested in the vacant job) will meet on Monday to start discussing the candidates that have currently expressed an interest and will start stepping up the efforts to appoint Mark Hughes' successor.

Blackburn or Newcastle ALWAYS seemed the most likely job to tempt Shearer away from the comfort of the Television Studios, could Rovers REALLY be the job for him?!?!
Hughes Da Man
I would want him but to have a experienced, well qualified coach to be with him. He would be a good leader and get the players going but running the coaching sessions im not sure of.
roverjoy
He's a legend but he has no experience - would be a real risk!

True - loved the player, but I dont fancy the idea of him being in charge. I'd like Advokat or Henk ten Cate as manager (apparently they have both been linked to the job), whith perhaps Shearer as assistant - og Tugay for assistant.

Id like to see Ince or Mclaren with alan shearer as the assistant manager.. but can you see alan settling for number 2?? I like the idea of Ince because of what hes done with MK Dons and Mclaren the england job has put most fans off but if u forget the english disaster look what he did with middlesborough?? cant doubt him there

Why not get Shearer as boss and put Ten Cate as his assistant. Hughes had bugger all experience when he took over but its all about potential... if Shearer has the hunger, I'm in.

Shearer will never take a No. 2 role with us, he's worked under Kenny, Kevin (in their prime) Robson, etc. He's already done his badges lads so better qualified than Ince. I have no probs with him taking training, today says Shearer plus Newell n some ex-newcastle coach, he would be exactly what the club needs, and he knows the game inside out. Alan hansen is regarded as one of the most knowledgable chaps in the game Liverpool tried for over 15 years to get him as boss, Shearer is no different, he would be a sucess of this I am sure.

Hopefully it wont be the ex Newcastle defence coach eh???
