McKay Backs The Wally With The Brolly!!!

McKay Backs The Wally With The Brolly!!!

If former Blackburn Rovers manager Don McKay had his way Steve McClaren would be the man to replace Mark Hughes at Ewood Park.

Former England coach McClaren has been out of work since being sacked by after a disastrous spell in charge of the International side but he is being put among the names being touted to take over the Ewood hot seat. It is understood that despite the fact that he was on the verge of joining Dutch club FC Twente he has turned this down in preference to a job in England with the one at Rovers interesting him a great deal, and McKay is backing him.

McKay told Radio Lancashire: "I've worked with Steve and he had undeserved bad press for the way England failed to reach Euro 2008.

"Blackburn need a manager like Steve who can bring through young players.

"I'm not being disrespectful but the person they bring in has got to have managerial experience
."

McClaren has himself now confessed an interest in the job as he is ready to get back into management.

McClaren told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Of course that would interest me.

"Unfortunately what happened with England was a huge failure but I want to get back into management
."

Personally I don't think that "the wally with the brolly" is going to get much backing from the Rovers fans though!!!

Rovers Fans are talking about being unfaithful to Rovers if we get Mclaren..but just hear me out... Just for a minuite, take the england job out the situation.. He was Fergie's 2nd at united when they won the trebel, He was Svens 2nd for england and must have been good otherwise they wouldnt have apointed him england manager. He took Boro to a UEFA cup Final!!!! I think because of the england job nobody wants him. I wouldnt choose him personally but I would take him over Big Sam any day of the week. Having said this, Id like Alan Shearer, not getting him then Dick Advocaat, and if not him then id have Ince or Landrup

OTHER... who could that be ? My vote would go to Allan Irvine. The poll is slightly unfair towards Shearer. (Shearer 15%, Newell & Shearer 10%... Big Al is in competition with himself). I have reservations about Big Al anyway, Mark was studying a degree in Economics when he signed his first professional contract as a lad. He has a brain for business. Al might find the finances at Rovers too restrictive. We are not the same club that we were in '95. Thats why Hughes was such a GREAT manager. He will make City into a real force.

On reflection, it has to be Allardice, surely. He has all the credentials. Ask Kevin Nolan. My only reservation is that he must continue to build our youth setup and bring 'em through!

i think Mclaren would b my second or third choice.. the england job has blinded most poeple of his other successes.. I dhave Ince then Mclaren or Advocaat.. after that i wouldnt be happy with any other man for the job

Don McKay is not getting a X-Mas card from me this year. I will burn my shirt if Rovers appoint him... and I am only saying that because I know they wont.
