Williams: Talks Sill Ongoing With Bentley

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams has refuted media claims that contract negations with David Bentley has been put on hold, if not ended insisting that these are still ongoing.

Despite contract negotiations opening back in February, nothing has been agreed, however, Bentley does still have three-years to run on his current contract. Williams insists that talks are ongoing and even if they do not continue as he is under contract he has once again stated that Bents' position with Rovers WILL NOT alter, he will remain at Ewood Park even if Chelsea and Liverpool are interested.

Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph: "There`s no change.

"Talks are ongoing, but Mark (Hughes) has said many times that if David doesn't sign a new contract then he still remains a player at this club
."

Fed up with Bentley now, shame he will leave and ruin his career most probably, but no point having him against his will.

I agree. if he wants to be a muppet let him. Hughes is taking the right stnace though showing him he cant just have his way when he wants it.

I agree with the pair of u, think Bentley has this ' im bigger than the club ' mentallity. He's a good player but I dont think that if he gets subbed or sits on the bench for a run of games at the supposed bigger clubs how he will handle it!! IF he wants to leave lets see who we can get to drive up the price at least
Clint
There are a few clubs about who want him... auction is the way forward.

I disagree - Bentley was our best player last season. He is away on international duty so how would be be involved in contract negotiations? If were not going to sell and he doesn't want to sign a for a wage rise and another year on his contract then so be it - he is still our player and I want him in our team next season.

Until he says he wants to leave he will stay a Rovers players, IF that time comes and he expresses a genuine desire to go that is when we have trouble!!! Do we keep an unhappy player because he is under contract, or do we let him go and risk others following? No player is bigger than the club, but if he thinks he would be better served elsewhere he should remember what happened to the likes of Craig Bellamy!!!
