Rovers Need A.......Midfielder!

Rovers Need A.......Midfielder!

Well, you have all been voting and it is fairly unanimous, Sparky needs to sign a midfielder, but what type? Read on...

The recent poll shows that you lot think Rovers need a midfielder and the biggest garnering of votes went to Central Midfield with 39% of the votes, but 22% of you think that we need a creative, attacking midfielder. Nevertheless, the midfield position grabbed a total of 61% of the votes cast, which I have to admit, I was surprised at.

The 'Other' positions were third with 17% of your votes and I'm guessing that Hughes himself has been on the site, voting other so he can push through his move for the Crewe Goalkeeper. Memo to Mark; honestly, we have enough keepers!

The position I felt needed strengthening most was at right back but that, along with central defence, only managed a meagre 9% of the votes each, which surprises me.

Rounding out the voting with a paltry 4% was up front, no surprise there but with Benni off colour last season and the lack of opportunities for Derbyshire, are we too quick to dismiss this position? Hmmmm....

Anyhow, the results in full were..

Central Defence 9%

Right Back 9%

Central Midfield 39%

Attacking Midfield 22%

Striker 4%

Other 17%

Don't forget to vote on the new poll, again, done by myself, which is 'Can an unfancied nation 'Do a Greece' and win the Euro's?' Get voting guys and girls!

BomBom- we also need some cover for Warnock at LB, another decent CB, and perhaps someone instead of MGP? (like Ledley, Hunt or Duffer)

dont want to worry anyone, but mark hughes is being linked with the job at barcelona and they are 'in talks' with blackburn atm!! im quite worried about this as sparky always talks about his love for barca!!
25/05/2008 11:42:00
also..... sign steve finnan id say, hes for sale atm as liverpool have millions of right backs, hed do a brilliant job at rovers, id be happy with that!

Wheres the story regarding Hughes coming from Whitey, nothing shown up on Newsnow yet. IMO Hughes isnt a big enough name for Barca, if he did get the OT job and then was successful maybe but his name isnt big enough, i dont think anyhow. Besides, Pep Guardiola has already been made manager following Rijkaard so dont sweat it. Finnan? hmmm, as a short term measure sure but I would still like to solidify that position with an upcoming talent that is hungry, not a big 4 cast off tbh.

I agree with Israeli. I think we should go for Hunt. He works hard, can cross well plus he chips in with a few goals. I would also love to see us get Tom Soares and Scott Sinclair. All these players would come fairly cheap so we could then go out and spend what money is left on a decent RB. 4 or 5 million should get a good RB.I know these players might not be top top quality but i would rather see them here then someone like Bellamy who thought he was doing us a favor every time he played for us and then left as soon as a better offer came in after upsetting the whole dressing room.
25/05/2008 16:09:00
disagree with you del even if he came to do me a favour ten cheap rubbish football players wont survive..ten good ones might win something..quality above quantity..and how many million hav we got to spend over 40 dont even go there..
25/05/2008 19:33:00
What about D'Allesandro. He did well when he was at Pompey. I think he is playing for Zaragoza and were they not relegated. He could be bought for about 5 million i would think
25/05/2008 23:15:00
I love Andres D'Allessandro but he is not a willing worker and would he fit into Rovers team?
26/05/2008 01:03:00
Now we've got this fella called Steve Sidwell - anyone interested?
